| I was thinking of getting a Mauser just for shits and giggles. Maybe buy a newer stock for it. Has anyone ever bought and old surplus Mauser? You know one of the $50 dollar 8mm ones? |
| The best Mauser in the sub $75 range is the Czech VZ24. The Yugo M48 is nice, but you are looking at $100 plus... still a bargain. I have both and let me tell you, the Czech is a real nice rifle for the money. Paid $60 or $70 for mine at a fun show a few months back. |

AlphaMale I think you are referring to the Turkish M98 variant. I seen these as low as $39.95. Most were used hard for many years, but are still serviceable. The VZ24 that HiramRanger suggested is a solid choice. The M48's can be had in the best condition for the least amount of money. Hang around the Mauser forums at www.gunboards.com to seek more information. I started off a Mauser collector. OSA |
I have about a dozen different variations of the M1898. Along with Swede M1896 and M1938. A few Turk M1893's, Couple of Argie M1891's. My collection sort of grows with time. I pick up a piece about every gun show. OSA |
