I'm thinking about getting a 10/22 and converting it. I want something that is cheap to shoot FA, and the 10/22 fits the bill. What is the cheapest way to go? Registered auto sear? I don't want to dump a zillion $$$ into it, so I want to keep it as low budget as possible. Add the price of a new 10/22 and BATF fee, plus DIAS. What is the price on average? Models of 10/22 to get/stay away from? I'm kinda new to 10/22's, so any info would be helpful. Thanks |

The John Norrell conversion for the 10/22 is the only one that was ever made that works properly. They are very popular and everyone who has one seems to like them. They are definately bullet hoses! May I suggest thay you really should consider an M-16 with a 22 Upper & conversion kit! You will have the same amount of money invested and 30-round ciener mags are actually cheaper than 10-22 mags these days. I considered a F/A 10-22 but quickly decided the M-16 is a better choice. Good Luck! |

BMF's suck. I broke two of 'em already. The POS housing distorts too easy and cracks real easy. I want a real, legit, full rock and roll, class 3, dirt cheap. You can bump a 10/22??? I would have thought it didn't have enough recoil. I can do it with a SAR3 but not my AR (Buffer spring soaks up too much recoil. It won't bump it past the disconnector. I've tried LOTS of times. I even honed the trigger group.) With a SAR3 or up, I can bump. |

Colt postban HBAR Wolf ammo 30 round USGI Muzzle brake on/off Will NOT bump. I shot 400 rounds trying. Not enough recoil to bump it past the disconnector. It gets hung up there every time. It is just too stiff. I think the disconnector spring may be a little too strong or something. Real reliable, but it won't bump for ANYTHING. |

Monel, I'm new myself to the Class III thing. So take my opinions with a grain of salt. But I think if you want to play with real Class III the best bang for the buck is probably a MAC in 9MM. A MAC-10 or MAC-11. Can get them for around $1000-1500 with all the goodies. And I think it will hold it's value better than a 10/22 FA. Hell, 9 MM isn't that expensive. An alternative at a higher price is the Vector Uzis which can be had for around $2800 to $3200. These are supposed to be very well built and I "think" once this lot is sold (and this is the last of the "new" Uzis available) will see appreciation. Then again, if the SC rules on Emerson and takes a radical stance declaring all firearms restrictions as unconstitutional, you'll be able to buy that M16 for around $800 and will lose value on any Class III. Yeah, and pigs will fly out my butt before that happens. James |
