I’m assuming since they have been brought in recently (last 5-8 years) was just the fastest product line to get imported since they knew it would pass atf import rules . |

They mentioned kits… Is the upper or lower the serialized item on these? Are these parts kits going to be able to be combined with a US made lower for example so you can have a complete firearm? This was the first thing that jumped out at me if they had a US partner who is working with them until they can import complete firearms. |

Update: SNT Defense has provided an update on the U.S. release of the Korean K2 rifle and related products. The civilian DP51 pistol is expected to go on sale in late 2025 for around $499. Korean-made K2S parts kits should arrive by the end of 2025, while full U.S.-assembled K2S rifles are now slated for release in Q3 2026 with a higher-than-expected MSRP of $1,799. Original intention was to circumvent firearms importation restrictions - not Tarriff s - Like a lot of firearms Importers like Zastava as one example -- they are not so much "manufacturing" as they are "importing" and re-assembly for 922R compliance - not Tarriff/ US value added type manufacturing. To avoid a Tarriff the majority of value of the product must be US made so it changed from swapping out US made furniture and triggers/mags to frames/receivers/barrels and some assembly. |

I had a chance to meet the Director of Sales Development at SNT yesterday in a professional capacity and I am excited about the future of this project. I don't want to speculate or overshare after having been generously given a tour of the facility, but they know demand is there, they want to fulfill it, they have the capabilities, and aside from the Las Vegas location, SNT has purchased a large manufacturing property in Louisiana that will be more than just firearms production. Hang in there. I want a K2 for myself and Im more hopeful than ever that I will see that happen. Also, staff is limited in the US right now, so they arent ignoring your emails. He told me he wants to keep everyone informed as they know more and share via socials and releases to outlets like TFB. |

I'm really excited by this project. I had a Daewoo DR200 that was converted to a folding stock and flash hider plus had an optic rail added. I really liked that gun and it was actually my favorite 5.56 rifle even over my AR's. Unfortunately, it suffered damage to the upper from a non shooting type of accident and I could never find any replacement upper. So I eventually sold it for parts and got way more than I paid for it. The only flaw with the DR200 was the 1:12 rifling twist but the K2 and other variants were the more modern 1 in 7. That could be corrected with a barrel swap and an AR barrel could be modified to work. However, that leads to the fatal flaw of all the Daewoo guns as they have no parts/support. If this new project comes to pass and they have parts in the system the whole weapons platform will really benefit. Those current owners who sparingly use/shoot their old Daewoos will finally have parts. |
