First pistol was a makarov.

First rifle... Not really sure. Maybe a Steyr M95/30 carbine? Or a Mosin?

I still have them. My MN 91/59 I bought in CA back in 1999 or 2000, and a Ruger P97 I bought in 2001 on my 21st Bday.

They are like a time capsule to when I was young and didnt know better. LOL

My first rifle was a 59' Chinese sks. All matching,  and it had the old tapco folding stock.

First was an SKS for like $99, then I scored a Beretta 92 Brigadier Inox at a gunshow for $350. Both are long gone, someone paid me stupid money for that Beretta.

Glock 19

Long Action from a Remington 700 sent it off to have it barreled, bolt done, trigger and shit done, dropped it into an Accuracy International chasis.

My first 3 were Rugers - a 10/22, a P95 and a Mark II.

That was over 200 guns ago.

Out of those 3 I only still have the Mark II, but I have since replaced the 10/22 and P95 with the same guns.

First Pistol was a well used P85 I bought in my early 20's around 2004. It was that strange goldish-green and thought it had been repainted but come to find out it was the lousy factory finish and it really didn't look good like the one in the photo.  I traded it for a Springfield 1911.  I never did have an issue with it and wouldn't mind finding another if it was in good shape.  First rifle was a hodge podge budget AR I put together a few years ago.  Still have it.  Ya'll know what an AR looks like.

I was thinking the same thing. My first handgun was a Ruger Bearcat 22, I paid for it but my dad bought it, It was 52 dollars brand new in 1972 in Alamogordo, NM. I soon after purchased a Browning T Bolt T2 used (68 or 69 I think) for 75 dollars(that was a lot back then).  I still have the T-Bolt with its receiver sight and 3 magazines. My first centerfire handgun was a 1918 vintage Colt 1911 (yes I read Cooper on Handguns) that I paid $125 for in 1974 or 5. I was told I got ripped off at that price. I passed that pistol on to my son and he still has it.

OP stated what I bought first, not what I had first. 80's kid here that loved to shoot but parents were not too keen on, but didn't discourage my interest in shooting. They bought me a Browning BL-22 lever action because it was pretty. I shot and beat the shit out that thing. I don't feel too bad about selling it, because it was time for another young shooter to enjoy it.

First handgun was a Magnum Research Mountain Eagle .22, big piece of crap that always jammed.

First rifle was an $89 Chinese SKS that had a plastic stock on it from the Gun Show.

Got rid of both.

Took me a bit but I finally figured out that quality is better than quantity.

First rifle (actually, first firearm I EVER purchased with my own money and in my own name): Norinco SKS - purchased at a Houston gun show back when CTD was still doing shows.  They were selling Norinco SKS's with acessories for $79.99 NIB WITH accessories! Rock-solid accurate and reliable.

First pistol: Colt "Double Eagle" - full-size, SS, .45 ACP.  Beautiful gun (to me), but it was a dog - unreliable and not very accurate for a 1911-based design.    Kept it for over 20 years.  Then traded for a Sig P220 about 7 years ago.  No regrets there.

Before I headed off to college, I bought an 18.5" 12 gauge 870 to keep in my apartment.

Soon as I turned 21, I bought a used, like-new, Gen 4 Glock 17 from Scheels. (which required the updated ejector to make reliable)

First rifle was a BCM ar15. Used excess student loan money one semester to order a complete lower and a barreled upper. Then put on a Daniel defense rail. Its funny to think I'll still be paying off that gun until the student loans are paid off.

Still have all my first guns and the few guns handed down from my parents.

First firearm purchase was actually a shotgun, a single shot 12 ga which didn't work right, in 1984, when I was 13. My first rifle was a Marlin 336 in .30-30 the same year. My first handgun was a Hi-Point CF380 in 1996, when I was 25. I don't have any of them any longer.

Had some hand-me-downs when I left home but the first transfers in my name were a Remington 700P, which got sent back to the factory and replaced because the barrel was jacked, and a combo of a Mark II 22/45 and a SW22A. The latter is still with me, the former was sold off years ago and has since been replaced with a lightweight 22/45.

My first firearm was a Ruger Mark II, got it for Christmas when I was in high school I think.
My first rifle purchase was a Browning A-Bolt II, Stainless with a BOSS, in 300 Win Mag.  That was 93 or 94.
My first handgun purchase was a Smith & Wesson 686+ stainless with a 6" barrel in 357 Magnum, but technically it wasn't for me, it was a gift to my Dad.

Norinco SKS for hair over $99 with a case of ammo that didn't last long thanks to me learning how to bump fire.

First pistol was a SW MP9 when i started working at a gun shop/range.  Orignally I had a S&W 4013TSW on layaway waiting for my 21st birthday but soon as I turned 21 swapped it to the M&P9, wish I could go back and stick with the 4013TSW.

By the time I turned 18, I had already bought a $100 S&W mdl 15, and a couple months later a commercial M1 carbine (Iver Johnson possibly?) for $175. I couldnt afford a Glock/Mini14/AR15 yet, so I was buying what I could afford at the time on a $7/hr job.   I followed those up with a $100 Stevens pump 12ga next and a S&W mdl 10 after that.

I gave my stepdad the Stevens 12ga, everything else is long gone as I traded/sold/upgraded during the 94 AWB.
