| I need to know if anyone can tell me how to get the slide off. I bought it off a friend that didn't have the manual. I don't have a manual yet and I would like to get this thing cleaned(probably for the first time ever). Thanks. |

from the manual: Rifle must be unloaded to perform disassembly. Magazine must be removed. Using a 5/16" wrench or nut driver and the adjustment tool provided with the rifle I don't have the carbine with me here, so I can't elaborate on the above. Hope this helps--good luck. BTW it takes cojones the size of watermelons to admit you own a HI-POINT in these parts. Most everyone here are nice guys, but there are elitists EVERYWHERE. |
| Thanks. I still can't get the damned thing apart. I am normally so good at taking things apart without reading the directions(the girlfriend hates this attribute because I have a harder time getting them together). YES! I HAVE A HIGH-POINT! IF SOMEONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THAT< BRING IT! Shooting is fun not fashion. I've got 2 AR's and am building a third. SO WHAT! I like to shoot my cheap guns. I got the High-Point 995, a Mossberge 500A(with two barrels), and Ruger 10/20 with collapsable stock for $200. I wanted the 10/22 and Mossberg. The High-Point was a bonus. Thanks again. I'll just keep trying. |

lots of people talk trash about HP carbines. I have one and love it. It always goes bang and is very accurate for what it is. I routinely bust 4" ballons at 100yrds with mine. It's tough, lightweight, low maint and best of all cheap. If it falls out of the canoe or gets beat to hell in the brush who cares. For 150.00 you throw it away and buy a new one. My only complaint is the stock is flimsy right behind the reciver. mike |
| I agree Beer Slayer. I was going to sell it, but I took it out and it function flawlessly. I am contemplating putting some type of spray foam in the voids behind the reciever(with the stock halves seperated, of course). Then, I'm going to trim it so I can put it back together. Just a thought. Maybe you can shed some light on my problem. I tried to pull the slide back and lift it off. I can't figure out how this thing comes apart. |

i've never had mine apart. I spray out the guts with carb cleaner and boresnake the bore. They spray in some clp and let it dry. Shot several thousand rounds through it with no failures. <other than it doesn't like wide hollowpoints or lead bullets> I figure for what they cost it ain't worth detail cleaning. Figure it would probobly do more harm than good. mike |
true, I guess thats how I feel about my tec-9 except I couldnt hit 4' balloons at 100 feet. |
I used to have one, It was one of the first guns I ever bought. I had that and a tec-9 and a Remington viper .22 talk about ghetto guns, but they were cheap and I didnt know any better at the time. I still have the .22 and the Intratec, but I havent shot them for years.A buddy of mine has 2, (one being my old one) he even has the chrome one, he even has them outfitted wit dem der laser sights. The last gunshow I went to with him he brought $40 to buy a gun with, he actually found a $40 gun and tried to talk the guy down for 30 minutes and ended up getting it for $35, it was an old .22 revolver POS that looked like a cap gun. out my ass. |
| The HI-POINT carbine is very reliable and very affordable and very delightful to shoot. There's not a damn thing wrong with these guns and it's kinda sickening that they get put down just because thery're easy to buy. It's like the damn restaurants in Moscow--they triple the price of their wine because if they don't no one will buy it. It's a fucked up mentality. Snobbery pisses me off. |
