Yes it’s bored out big enough for a 7.62 round.

The 7.62x39 Bren 2 uses 1/2x28 barrel threads. That gives you an ideal of what CZ did to reduce the barrel weight.

Just buy any length you can find for now, and get the conversion barrels later to change length.

since my first purchase  cz USA vz58 back in 2008, and about a month now my cz Bren 2s
Such a great history the VZ 58 up to now Bren 2s, how they designed  these two fire arms around the 7,62x39 cartridge to fit their needs
Including the magazine...I'm so glad they didnt design it to use AK mags, they didn't do it with their vz58, why would they change now.
Very impressed on how this firearm evolved...probably non like it using the 7.62x39

I'm sure I missed the boat, but does anyone know someone willing to sell or a dealer where I can get a 9'' or 11'' in 7.62x39?

Curious to search also, even on gun broker could not find the 7.62x39.  Still the 5.56 floating around but mostly in 14"
But you never know... they might sneak in another shipment, crossing fingers

Theyre going to be doing the official release soon.
I cant remember what I saw or who even said it, but they explained the reason for the soft release and stated that there would be changes to the gun in the official release.

Sorry for the vagueness I just cant remember for sure who said it and if it was a video or if I read it, but whatever it was it made me glad that I didnt jump on them right away.
Im pretty sure it was MAC when I think about it, because I think he said he talked to the guys at CZ because he was over there for a tour or something.  Just cant remember if it was a video or Instagram.

The “Official” release date is end of 2019 per CZ.  This is a problem for those of us that live in States with shitty pending legislation.  Hence why I want it ASAP if I can find one.

Personaly I would rather have the version most like the military version. Never been too happy with “Americanized “ versions of foreign military style rifles. If they really come out at the end of 2019 and they are cool I will get one but for now I’m glad I grabbed one of the closest to true to military issue ones.

Hey, not that it matters for the purposes of comparison here, but you should probably measure your group sizes from
outside hole edge to inside hole edge. That'll give you a "center-to-center" measurement. Just an FYI.

I’m hoping the Americanized version isn’t going to be weird. CZ has a good track record of giving us good stuff though.

Thinking real hard about a 14” 5.56 as my next gun.

Use the lengths provided in the user's manual. Convert to inches by dividing by 25.4 to convert from mm to inches.

Those are long gone at the dealer level. Limited release. I was considering buying one but didn't want to drop $1900 on one just to get one now. I'll be patient for prices to stabilize once the large shipments come in 2019.

Your best bet is secondary market. Good luck.

Really can't wait for the 308 version. Don't have anything in 308 at the moment.

I assume you mean mean some sort of legislation in Washington? If so, do tell or point me in a way to learn more?
I fly out to Washington state for the summer and may end up moving there in a few years.

It looks like they took a band saw to the front 5" of the receiver and replaced it with polymer.

I wonder if it has a replaceable grip as well, which we first saw on the Bren BR photos?

An additional difference that can be seen from https://www.czub.cz/en/produkty/semi-auto/cz-bren-2-ms.html is the Bren 2MS does not have the additional weight reduction cuts the first batch of Bren 2S that hit the US market. You can see lack of relief cut in the area behind the case deflector, serial number, and on the other side where CZ Bren 2S is marked.

Also what is interesting is the serial number of the Bren 2MS is in a range that is before the batch of the Bren 2S that came to the US market.  My 11" 7.62x39 version has a serial number in the C5069XX range, while the photo of the Bren 2MS has a serial number in the C470101.

Interestingly, comparing the receiver designs, the Bren 2 MS is essentially the Bren 2 BR scaled down for the intermediate cartridge.  No lightening cuts present on its upper, forward of receiver bifurcated for replaceable handguard.

https://www.czub.cz/en/produkty/automaticke-zbrane/cz-bren-2-br.html

The QD swivel isn't present on any of the designs though.  Uses 806/807 pattern lower/stock.  Very much a hybridized mutt of the post-805 variations.

Okay, so what's the deal with the stocks on the Bren 2?

In the pics that I've seen, the stock on the .308 and 7.62x39 versions is different than the one on the 5.56 version.

Is the stock on the .308 and 7.62x39 models an improved/updated version of the one on the 5.56 models? If so, that's what I want on the upcoming "civilian" model.
