Quoted:
What's with the rectangular chunks of sheet metal welded to the rear of the receiver?
Is that supposed to be some sort of stock denial feature or additional bracing for the rear of the reciever? Dont know much about MP5's...... The tabs serve several purposes. First they are there to reinforce the shorter receiver and to prevent it from bulging out under excessive recoil pressures. Second they are there to provide a latching point for the original HK MP5K shoulder rig holster system. And yes they are also there to prevent the installation of a sliding stock... even though one could not be installed without adapting the rear mounting piece to the flat twin pin style of the K guns and shortening the stock rails. |

Yep, the MP5K series have a shorter receiver than the regular MP5's, which is why the "K" versions are issued with a either a end cap or folding stock instead of the more traditional telescoping stock.
If you want a telescoping stock and the shorter "K" barrel you can get what's referered to as a "reverse stretch" with a standard reciever. |

That would make it a machine gun, it's like the blocking bar in a semi auto uzi. A normal mp5 bolt carrier will fit as long as you remove the seat trip. |
