I got tired of waiting around for H&K to bring an mp5 type gun, so I bought the Zenith Z5K.  From everything I have read, these are the next best thing to the real deal.  I was undecided for a few months based on the lack of reviews until I read what Ron from Henderson Defense wrote in a thread about the zenith mp5 clones.

Quoted:
We have quite a few MP5's being used on our full-auto range to include HK, AA, MKE, POF, Special Weapons and Coharie. To say that POF or MKE are of a lesser quality than the US-produced models is NOT what we experience. We've had more US-made bolt carriers crack than the others but the locking pieces and firing pins all last about the same amount of use/time.

We have HK's (and licensed POF/MKE's) with several hundred thousand rounds that need nothing more than barrel swaps when we can no longer get the proper bolt gap with over-sized rollers. This goes for the MKE's and POF's as well. The US-made receivers have cracked along the pinched area along the trunion where they are TIG welded from the factory. Also, the barrels last MUCH longer on the HK-licensed models.

If you are going to purchase one, US-made or not, stock up on extractor springs. Also, make sure to order the G3/.308 type because in OUR experience, they last longer.

This post pretty much sealed the deal and I ordered the z5k from atlantic firearms the next day.  Zenith also provides a 5 year warranty and from what I have read on the forums they have top notch customer service.

Its nice of them to include a hard case, cleaning kit, sling and some other stuff but honestly I think they should just drop those things or make it an option and drop $100 + or - from the price or more mags.

The sights look straight to my naked eye but we'll see once I zero it.

The welds and over all finish look as good as any HK I have ever seen.

3 mags with chrome followers

And for no reason other than to show of my mini Uzi

I really want one of these, I have been pining over a MP5 clone after shooting the real deal at work (Select Fire)

Its a shame registered sears are so expensive

What's with the rectangular chunks of sheet metal welded to the rear of the receiver?

Is that supposed to be some sort of stock denial feature or additional bracing for the rear of the reciever? Dont know much about MP5's......

The tabs serve several purposes. First they are there to reinforce the shorter receiver and to prevent it from bulging out under excessive recoil pressures. Second they are there to provide a latching point for the original HK MP5K shoulder rig holster system.

And yes they are also there to prevent the installation of a sliding stock... even though one could not be installed without adapting the rear mounting piece to the flat twin pin style of the K guns and shortening the stock rails.

Yep, the MP5K series have a shorter receiver than the regular MP5's, which is why the "K" versions are issued with a either a end cap or folding stock instead of the more traditional telescoping stock.

If you want a telescoping stock and the shorter "K" barrel you can get what's referered to as a "reverse stretch" with a standard reciever.

show me the insides. MKE had to do a number of things to the guns in the past to get them allowed for import.

That would make it a machine gun, it's like the blocking bar in a semi auto uzi. A normal mp5 bolt carrier will fit as long as you remove the seat trip.

Looking good beaverpelt! How does that vertical grip fit on yours? Is it solid? I just got the U.S. one from HK Parts and it's pretty wobbly.

does that prevent them from being used as sear hosts?
