Hi All,

Please help identify the different rifles in this photo which was taken in Israel, circa 1935-1948.

Thanks.

Bottom two are double-barrel side by side shotguns. Two above that look like Enfield No3's. One above that, Mauser of some sort?

SxS shotgun, some type of Martini action rifle a No1 MkIII Enfield's and either a Pattern 14 Enfield or a P17, but would lean towards it being a P14 since the Brits were the occupiers prior.

Above the P14 looks to be another Martini Henry.

Martini-Henry Mk lV. Looks like it's been converted to a shotgun.
Couple of Enfield No.1 Mklll's. They have the mag cut off tabs.
Guy behind the tree has P-14 or M1917 Enfield.
Last gun looks same as the MH shotgun.

Yeah I agree with this.  From front to rear....

SXS shotgun of some sort

Martini-Henry of some version.  Could be a MK I, MK II, MK III, or MK IV

2x No.1 MKIII's

M1917/P.14 most likely

can't really tell but it does appear to be the same as the 2nd rifle

Several people beat me to the answers but that's a very interesting photo,
especially given the information you provide on it.
Might you be willing to share some more of the story behind it?

Hi cerberus1,

Thank you for your interest.

This photo was taken at kibbutz Ein HaHoresh which was created in 1929.

Like many other villages in the North of Israel, Ein HaHoresh suffered repeated attacks by Arab marauders who attempted to infiltrate at night with the intent of murdering the civilians.

It is assumed that the said photo depicts a defensive line which the men at the kibbutz had set up in preparation for an Arab attack.

I hope this helps.
Thanks.
