Has anyone heard if there are plans for Remington to release their ACR to the civilian market ?
I would love to have one. |

That's exceptionally enlightening and insightful. Are you a monk, or possibly a wizard? You have the wisdom and intelligence of a 7,000 year old man
Wtf does a SCAR or XCR have to do with a question about the Remington ACR? You guys that contribute uselessness to humanity and ACR threads could at least do so in a more original and entertaining fashion. For example, if you are going to interject random, irrelevant and useless responses try something more like this-
Q: Does anyone know when the RemDef V.2 ACR will be available? A: If you ever interrupt a carnie and a hippo scissoring each other while a hobo flicks cigarettes at them and laughingly says "this is all your step-dads fault lololol", make sure you either back away quietly, or put on a helmet, cover yourself in Carl Budding beef and crank up the Billy Idol because shits gonna get real. A response like that is atleast entertaining and original. It's also less irrelevant than a person who doesn't even own a SCAR,ACR or XCR making random assertions... OP, before I drive my Honda Civic over to a Ferrari forum to post dumb shit like "buy a Viper" or "you should check out the Z06..." in a thread where someone asks if the Ferrari 512TR was ever produced in fly yellow, I will leave you with a relevant parting thought- Remington Defense announced that they'd be releasing several products on the civilian market soon. And while the ACR wasn't one of those listed, atleast initially, something is definitely going on with the ACR. The free-fall in the price on the Bushmaster guns and the investment in the carbine competition that never materialized, suggests that big things are coming for the ACR |

The free-fall in the price on the Bushmaster guns and the investment in the carbine competition that never materialized, suggests that big things are coming for the ACR The drop in price came from people not buying an underwhelming rifle Nor did the acr have a snowballs chance in hell to win the ICC. How on earth do those things make you think that remington will release their version? As for your other comments, calm down, this isn't GD. |
|
So who won the ICC? Guess I could Bing it, maybe after I clean the gunk from under my toes nails.
And what's with the "lack of support" from bushmaster comments? I ordered a part a couple weeks ago, no issues, hell the guy on the phone was even pleasant to deal with. Would love to see the Remington version come out, unfortunately even if it does, it appears it will have a much higher price tag than the bm version. |

I think the "lack of support" is reference to the lack of OEM and aftermarket support. Look at the SCAR; there's a shit-ton of parts and gadgets out for it now. Hell, you can even get an ACR-style stock for it. I personally love the look of the ACR and enjoyed the one I got to handle and shoot. Nothing wrong with it if one is going to keep it stock. That said, fuck Freedom Group. |
|
I get that. I am not knocking the SCAR, I have read a lot of internet opinions on it, sounds great. Though I have read that people don't love the standard stock on the SCAR and the ACR like KDG? stock is $30, (ACR version $150).
There are a few people making parts for the ACR, Nexus 9 Tactical is coming out with a new handguard and Handl Defense has recently shown some interest in the ACR. So far I really like my ACR and it doesn't need any other parts to shoot well, need being the key word. And I got no argument with you last sentence. |

Remington defense said they will be selling to us lowly civi's this year at shot show but they only said the R12, a couple bolt guns and a shotgun, nothing about the ACR. Unfortunately they all carry rediculous price tags too. ....and I have yet to see one. |

It's always 'just around the corner' lol. I will gladly eat crow if you're right, but I don't believe it anymore. |

Price may be an issue, but for me personally my SCAR had been well worth the money. |

At least one rifle, "rifle 'c'," outperformed the M4 by a substantial margin. |

I'd suggest you do the same, it has nothing to do with the 2007 dust test you are describing. Quoted:

You need to do a bit more research on the ICC I'd suggest you do the same, it has nothing to do with the 2007 dust test you are describing. Yeah, whoops. Dont know why i thougjt that
In any case, any improvement over the ar was not found to be worth the increased cost of the competition. Cant really say anybody won when nobody was able to meet the requirements set by the army Its also a bit silly to bring up rifle c when nobody knows what it was |

It is true that nobody really knows what "Rifle C" was, but we do know what it wasn't. |

It is true that nobody really knows what "Rifle C" was, but we do know what it wasn't. Your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired. Or did you purposely ignore where the M4A1 outperformed every rifle in Class III stoppages by a large margin and came in second place in Class I and II stoppages only being beat by "Rifle C". So sure Rifle C had less stoppages but it broke more often than the M4A1. What would you rather have a rifle with 500 MRBS and lasts twice as long, or a rifle that has 2,500MRBS but breaks twice as often as the M4A1? The reason the M4A1 won was because it was proven to be the most durable rifle in the competition despite one other rifle having less stoppages. Lastly if the Army is to be believed the new GI mags that are being made increase reliability by 300% over the ones used in the ICC trial. If that is the case the M4A1 would have around 1,500 MRBS and over 6,000 MRBF which "Rifle C" had 2,500 MRBS and 4,000 MRBF. I for one do not want a rifle that has to be rebuilt every 4,000 rounds. |

I blame the ridiculous marketing strategy of Freedom group. One version for civilians and one for LEO/Mil. That worked great for Colt in the past.
Obviously, we cant have FA capability in a new production firearm and that's something we have to live with, but every other semi-auto rifle on the market is basically the same thing as its Mil/LEO counterpart. And THAT is what people want. People want the LEO/Mil Rem ACR. Unfortunately for the ACR hounds, Rem isn't likely to ever sell you one. Thankfully, you can buy a superior SCAR rifle.
