I just picked up a Scar 16s last Saturday. I put a few hundred rounds through it and noticed some wear on the lower receiver. I'm just wondering if this is normal. I'm using lancer mags and GI mags, no pmags since I haven't modified any yet.

Does it look the same on the other side?

Also the bolt side.

Added pics would help.

Completely normal as the FN forum will tell you.  It is because of America's silly import rules and regs.

Pssst!!  The pmag theory is just that: a theory.  No one has ever proven it with a verifiable picture, either .mil or civilian.  It's just conjecture.

Normal....

A pin is molded in the plastic so it wont except a magazine due inport rules. The pin is ground off after it hits the US. Looks lik hell, but doesn't effect fiunction at all.

Think he is talking about the wearing on the bolt release, with gen 2 pmag use.

FYI, Lancer L5 magazines have the same issue with the SCAR's offset bolt stop tab as PMAG G2s have (actually, it is worse, my unmodified L5s (early style, ribbed fence) will not seat in a SCAR 16 with the bolt closed, and you can't close the bolt if the magazine is seated with it opened). Lancer L5 AWM magazines do not have the issue.

Yep.  Conjecture.  I never had any issues with my SCAR using unmodified mags for the few years I had it.  I've been asking for years for pictures of any damaged SCARs that can be directly tied to what Strongbow showed.  His post turned into unquestionable fact as it was repeated over and over the internet.  Then MAC took his posts and turned it into a video  No one has ever shown, either military or civilian, any verifiable proof with all the rounds fired in all the SCARs out there.  Magpul even weighed in on it a while back.

But whatever - ultimately it is your SCAR.  You do what you want and the magazine modifications takes five seconds.  If it gives you peace of mind, rock on.

Also, pro tip - hurry down to your LGS and pick up a saiga12 they've been banned from Import.

Lancer mags seat perfect in mine. Seats just like the fn mag does that came with it as far as the bolt catch goes. Pmags on the other  hand do push up on the bolt catch and I had few malfunctions with them. They also don't drop free.

You can't be serious...

If only there were a site that had videos you could search for and watch...

Haha, didn't read further into the thread did you?  It's ok, most don't go searching further than those two examples....neither of which show actual damage to a SCAR.
