I've been asking my 9yo daughter to shoot with me since she was very young, but she's always said "no."  I'm a firm believer that nobody, regardless of age, should be pushed into shooting, and I've seen many kids wrecked from bad first experiences with guns over the years.

I was wrapping up some loose ends on a few videos yesterday while my daughter was hanging out in the backyard.  She came up to me out of nowhere and asked if she could shoot a rifle, and I wasn't even working on a rifle video.  I was shocked at first, and then the excitement built as I got everything together for our first shooting lesson.

She's her daddy's daughter, for sure, because she asked if I would make a video of it. :)  Well, here's that video, and if you watch it, you'll understand why it might forever be the best gun video I'll ever do.

Good Shot and good for you!  I'm glad she like it.
My girl love to shoot and begs me to take her shooting all the time. I think we started at the same age, she 11 now.  Being in Charlotte, we only go about once every 2 months or so, to friend's range in SC.  I so wish I had your backyard.

Here my video of her at the range:

Awesome! My daughter grew up shooting an old Winchester .22 rifle that I have and, later, graduated into larger calibers and pistols. When she left for Nashville to work on her Master's Degree, I bought her a Glock 19 and she got her CCW.

She has since graduated and now lives and works in Nashville. She surprised the s**t out of me this summer when she came home for a visit. It ssems that she had taken her Glock out to a range to practice and ran into a young man shooting an AR. They began talking and he let her shoot a few mags through it. The next day, on her own, she went out and purchased a Stag. She brought it when she came home and we spent an enjoyable weekend shooting our ARs. We even got my wife to join in.

My daughter had fired my ARs on numerous occaisions but had never shown an interest in getting her own. I wondered why she had all of the sudden bought her own and soon found out the answer when she began dating the guy from the range who let her shoot his. I met him over Christmas and he seems like a good guy...he loves guns and seems to love my daughter.

My goal in life is to always have bigger guns and shoot better from longer distances than any of my daughter's (future) boyfriends. :)

Great video and even better job teaching her.  It's obvious you two have a great relationship and she feels respected and proud the whole time.  Not a bad grouping for a newbie either!

I can't wait for my baby girl to shoot. She's 17 months new and already a gun owner (pink cricket). Looking forward to making memories with her.

Me too. It would be my luck, though, for him to buy one of those 20mm rifles from Anzio Ironworks. They don't get much bigger than that.  Hey, I just had a thought. If I go ahead and get a 20mm now, it would be up to Marcie's boyfriend(s) to play catch up. I've been looking for a reason to justify getting an Anzio 20mm and now I've got one. Now I just have to run it by my wife......I'm sure she will be on board, especially when I explain the logic behind my reasoning.

My Daughter has taken to shooting probably more than my Son has, she really likes handguns but seems a bit intimidated by a rifle, the sharp crack gets her I think.
