I mailed off my CT assault weapons registration forms, 30 minutes ago.. Lots of them. Got overnight certified mail with tracking. Scared that it won't make it there, and I'll end up a felon. Everyone is telling me that if it's post marked by Dec 31st, I am GTG. Anyone else worried? Had to get an ink pad for my thumb print and sit at the bank while a lady notorized 25 forms (while looking at me like I was a crazy person)... I hope following the stupid law, doesn't screw me.
I feel bad for the old guys with .22LR semi pistols with threaded barrels and don't know they have to register them too... |

Concerning registration enforcement after April 15, Wells said state police are warning that failing to register by the deadline is punishable by a misdemeanor charge and forfeiting the gun, but there will be some initial leniency.
“If the failure to register is deemed to be unintentional, a 30-day amnesty period will be extended for purposes of registering the weapon without fear of prosecution,” she said. |

I feel your pain but I can not, in good conscience, comply with tyrannical laws that go against out founding documents and everything I know to be right, just, and true.
So, my advice would be noncompliance. Am I scared of what the future holds? Fuck yea, but id rather go forward knowing that I did not simply go along with it. (stuck in NY) |

Somehow you didn't make me feel better... but congrats on still having your freedoms. Any high level IT jobs in your state? Business in my state had always been expanding and wasn't as badly effected by the shitty economy as other places. Oil, tech, and construction have been booming. Hate to rehash but sometimes you gotta move for the greater good if its that important to you. Either guns are or guns aren't. |

Quoted: This Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Anyone else worried? Nope, I live in a free state that values firearms and an armed citizenry. This I live in a "free state" also. That being said, it scares the shit out of me that this is happening in the "free country" I live in. The mere fact that this is happening anywhere in the U.S.A. should be a resounding warning for all of us. |
|
If you had to register your forum posts, blogs, articles, public speaking events, etc with the government in order to speak or publish your thoughts... would you?
I'm hoping the answer is no. So why would you allow such restrictions to be placed on your right to bear arms? It's your life, OP, I'm not trying to convince you of anything. All I'm saying is that IMO this is a heinous law that does not deserve anyone's obedience. |
|
The fact that the OP is scared of the repercussions of standing up for his rights is frightening.
Compliance is not an option. I understand people have alot to lose, but everytime you comply with bullshit laws like this you give them more ammo to come after the rest of us. |

Sucks to be you I guess
Meanwhile, here's our governor.. http://media.thestate.com/smedia/2013/07/27/19/41/u6Jgj.AuSt.74.jpeg This....lots of this. |

I was a senior Infrastructure PM for Sikorsky up until October. Was great having Blackhawks flying around the office. Now I'm a Infrastructure PM for a financial institution. If my Ex-wife and Son weren't here in CT, I would move in a heartbeat. My other hobby is motorcycles and the season is too short here.
One good outcome of the ban, is I can un-ban everything I registered. My Vepr 12 had to have a Thumbhole stock, now it can have a folder. My Sig SCM can also get a folding lower... To the person who asked if 25 forms = 25 Post 1994 guns I had to register. My prebans did not need to be registered with the way the law was written. |
| Well here in the recently turned blue VA, we can still scoff at the word "registration". However, our free stuff folks and the elitists of NOVA voted in Terry McAulife. Mcawful is a Bloomberg disciple who has already made his anti-gun intentions known. So, I sympathize with you up there in CT. Should it come to the same crap here in VA, I will vote with my feet and move to a free state. |

You're only a felon if you get caught.
Is there some stamp that goes on a registered firearm? If not, how will anyone at the range know that the gun is registered or not? If you are pulled over and a Cop see's your guns in the back seat (that's why they go in your trunk) and he asks if your guns are registered, is there anyway for him to check? If not, you say Yes, and drive on. So, either you move, or you do this until the Supreme Court strikes this down. |

I'm thinking this is more of a GD thread. Indeed. Tech forums huh? The OP may have a legitimate concern, but instead of asking for a clarification of CT's laws, simply pushed some emotions out on the screen. He did do some clarifying later and turned it into a "discussion". Simultaneously, just about every reply to the OP has been typical GD ignorance, off topic, and not helpful. The exceptions would be the rare helpful ones about jobs in more free states. The thread might do better in the CT hometown forum. A move to GD would just turn into a greater mishmash of interweb badasses. |

Move to Kentucky. There are high level IT jobs around Lexington and Louisville as well as Northern Kentucky across the river from Cincinatti. Also, the cost of living is much cheaper here. No! Don't tell them that. We got enough Yanks moving here as is. They bring their messed up way of thinking with them. Bad enough they destroyed their states, now they spread like a virus. |

Well it's CT, what happens if you use a REGISTERED gun to stop a home invasion? ![]() Since you have to retreat and hand them over your children and anal virginity before being allowed to defend yourself, the answer is go to jail without passing go or collecting $200. I registered because I can't lose my job. Didn't like it, but I'm funding the fight to repeal the law and I hope someday it changes. But I'm quite sure it won't. |

I think you guys are confusing good people who want to leave a bad state, as opposed to the FSA who's policies made it a shit state and now they want to move to another and "get it right this time". |

I was only being sarcastic. I welcome any and all people who support our Constitutional rights. |
