I want to build an AR Pistol, so if I understand this I dont need another stamp, I just buy a lower & register it as a pistol with my FFL, correct?
Then as long as I dont put a stock on it I can put what ever short barrel on it?

New stripped receivers are transferred as "receivers" or "other" instead of "pistol"
Other than thatm you've got it.

So I'm currently waiting on a stripped lower to be delievred to my FFL, when I go pick it up & do the FFL paper work I just need to say Register it as a Pistol, correct?

No, it can be transferred to you as a "receiver / other" and you can do whatever you want with it, short of NFA stuff.
No reason to transfer it as a pistol.

The only exception might be in states with handgun registration, but even then I believe it's still not registered as a pistol at the time of transfer.

Thank you, that's what I needed to know.

You also have to build it as a pistol first, if you build it as a rifle then it will always be considered a rifle and you to get a stamp to reconfigure it as a pistol.

On the other hand, a pistol may be reconfigured back and forthe from pistol to legal length rifle at anytime without legal issue.

There's a great AR Pistol Forum that has the answers for any question you may have regarding AR pistols.  Good luck with your pistol as I sure enjoy shooting mine.
