Any downfalls to it? Taking it down doesn't look too bad. Has a lot of safety features to prevent blowback bolt from falling back. Seems like a well built carbine.

What says arfcom?

If you can find one that someone is willing to sell, grab it before they change their mind.

The PC9 is the literal sherman tank of PCC's - The trigger is extremely 'safe' and doesn't have much leeway to improve it and the receiver can handle pressures that the 9mm case isn't even capable of!

It's heavy too.

Buy it.

All of this plus, mine was very accurate and reliable. AND: It was the one gun I have ever seen that USA brand 30-rd mags worked perfectly in. But stick to 20s...a 30-rd mag sticks out so far, it resembles a monopod.

i had one many years ago. it was all i could think about since i already owned  p89,kp95, and a p94(in 9mm).

basically you get slightly better performance from the pc9 than any p series pistol. out of an ak weight rifle that wasn't good enough for me. if i'm going to be burdened with the size/weight of a rifle...

now an ak pistol, whole other ballgame

Got one. Heavy, but built like a tank.

Use 20 round Mecgars for a reliable hi-cap solution.

Is it really worth the $700-800 premium they fetch? The only thing it would be used for it a subsitute for a 10/22

If you want a durable (VERY durable), reliable, and accurate centerfire pistol-caliber carbine, yes. If a 10/22 can fill the same role, hell no.

I would say not.  I sold mine for $450 or so and don't miss it one bit.

It was heavy.
It really cried out for a receiver mounted aperture sight.  The rear leaf and the resultant 12" sight radius was a joke.
The trigger was mediocre.
No sling swivels or easy way to mount them.

I toyed with the idea of getting a scope mount base and doing something with it, but in the end, I decided I'd rather have a AR based 9mm if I was going to pretend there was any use for a pistol caliber carbine.

The PC9 can be so much more than you realise, with 147gr pills handloaded to 1050fps (Mine is suppressed too) you end up with a load that has a trajectory near enough identical to a .22lr but hits hard enough to drop most things in front of it - or think of it this way, that whenever you see someone bleating on here wondering about why they can't create a accurate subsonic handload for their .308 - you already have the solution.

The PC9 is one of the most amusingly overbuilt firearms I've ever come across.

As someone else said though, the sights kind of suck, but it's still a fun and cool gun.
