http://ruger.com/products/m77MarkIITarget/specSheets/17979.html Ruger makes two target rifles that I'm interested in. So I have two questions. First, does anyone have experience with either of these? Second, what would be a good scope to use here? |

I owned one in 308 that was awesome. Cut it to 18" for hunting and hit a running pig at 300 yards.
I owned one in 25-06 that was better used as a spear or a club than a rifle. This was back in the 90s. Ruger barrels are just too unpredictable. If this is a target rifle, just get a Savage FTR. Relatively cheap and nothing even remotely similar in price is more accurate. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/12FTR |

I have yet to see a Ruger with a factory tube that I would call accurate. My MKII and No.3 laugh at your comment. Same here... my Ruger 77MK II Target in .22-250 shoots EXCELLENT with groups in the .500" range common. Best to date is .327" with Nosler 40gr BT's. My older brother has them in .25-06, .223, .243, and my younger brother has one in .220 Swift. Nice shooting rifles, all of them. I have a standard Ruger 77 in .243 Win that shoots under MOA with 95gr Nosler BT's and IMR-4350. Lucky? OK... I'll take lucky. |
