I used to have a similar rifle made from a VZ 98/22.

The muzzle blast with Turk ammo was impressive to say the least.

I swear the turks put something in the powder to enhance the flash.  My brother had a G33/40 that we shot a ton of that ammo out of and the muzzle flash/blast was memorable to say the least.

I was thinking of doing something like that to a 91/30, only not quite as short of barrel. Looks cool!

Why not just buy an M44?

No need for lights or a flash on the camera. It will make it's own light.

Why not just buy an M44?

Because they're averaging $400 now?

I wouldn't touch a M44 for $400, and their one of my favorite models of Mosin-Nagant.

Especially not when Wideners still has them for $235. (And I think that's FAR closer to market, if still a bit high)

Thought quite a bit about the m44, but I kind of like a "project" every one in a while, and I got the 91/30s when they were cheap. I suppose the m44 is the way to go, I sure wish I had kept the unissued Polish one I had. Oh well.

Thanks all,

Mark

You could actually get a 91/30 and go shorter than a 44 couldnt you? Im unsure of the 44's barrel length

I think the 44 is still 20" the 91/30 is 29" so yes...

Make a mosin more accurrate than this one

Couldn't see why not.

I think several are owned by people who are members here. I recall seeing at least two that are almost certainly shorter than a M44.
