I'm just curious as to what some guys would think regarding a theoretical trade, without mentioning who would be doing the trading of which item(s).

Here's the deal: A Kimber Ultra CDP II for approximately 3200 rounds of recent production Guatemalan 556X45mm still sealed in the crates.

Thoughts?

Kimbers are supposed to be crap but that is a trade I probably wouldn't take.

I would do that trade all day, as long as the pistol is surplus, and not your only one.

Cheap .223 is $300 a case.

Keep the Kimber and you'll have something that will last for generations. Trade for the ammo, shoot it, and it's done.

Keep the 1911, save up and buy some ammo.

You're trading a long term asset for a short term expendable.  Makes no economic sense.

I would, because i don't like Kimbers

With that said, I would not shoot the ammo, I would just add it to my "stash"
