Im pretty sure my  new to me Marlin 1895 45/70 shooting 325Gr bullets kicks less than my Ruger M77 Hawkeye II chambered in 7mm rem mag shooting 160gr bullets.Am i imagining this ?

F=1/2mv^2

Force equals one half mass times velocity squared.

Because velocity gets squared, more velocity will get more force quicker than more mass.

The 7mm has more energy.  You also have to consider the weight of the rifle.
