Hello all,
I'm kicking around the idea of having my Mini-14 rebarrelled in 7.62x39 and I need some help.
Can anyone tell me if the ruger 20rd magazines for the mini-30 will fit in the mini-14?
thanks

Why not just sell the mini14 and get a mini30?

Different receiver, different bolt and different barrel.  Unless you are a serious machinist with a lot of downtime, you would be WAY better off just buying a Mini Thirty outright.

Wow. Serious project you are looking at. As was posted, why not sell/trade your 14 toward a 30? In the end it will save you mucho coin you could spend on ammo and mags.

I prefer the new style rear site myself. My brother in law has a new mini-14, and the rear site is rock solid. I believe that is the same rear site as on the new mini-30 as well. In fact, of the two mini-14s I have owned the rear site had a bit of play in it that I tightened up with a piece of rubber I shoved under the site disk once I had it zeroed. The new site you losen it with an allen wrench, adjust it and tighten the allen screw down and its locked in.
