I took advantage of vacation to run out to the range for the first time in months. I took a some of my C&R guns and a problem child TZ-75 that has ejection issues. I started with the TZ and it is still a problem child. I have tried a couple of extractors and recoil springs as well as a smoothing of the rails with valve lapping compound and some time hand cycling. At some point a previous owner cleaned the chamber with a stainless steel brush and scored it pretty badly. I polished it out but I think it may need a new barrel and have had no luck finding a replacement. Oh well.

Things went better with the P1 and STAR Model B 9mm from AIM. the P1 worked like it should and the STAR is just a blast to shoot. I had a couple of stovepipes early but it smoothed out after the first 50 and ran 100 more with no probs. I expect that I caused the stovepipes since I did not properly lube it after I cleaned it with my Ed's Red batch. I will clean it again, polish the throat and chamber, then grease it properly. It shoots very sweet and by the end of the session I was shooting a ragged 2inch hole at 10 yards with Federal and WWB FMJ. This is going to the range a lot in the future.

My highlight of the day was the Remington 1903A3 that I picked up from the CMP at the end of the availability for these. I got one of the last and it is a keeper. Mirror bore and muzzle just over 1. I brought about 50 rounds of Korean surplus with me, PS 2-179 lot, and was amazed how well the rifle liked it. Thankfully I have about 700 rounds of this stuff left, as well as about 250 rounds of the KA corrosive Korean. At 50 yds I was able to shoot a 1.6 inch group which is very good for me. This pic of the last 5 shot group shows 3 in one hole, which is the capability of the rifle. It also shows the 2 flyers, which is the capability of the rifleman.

A good day was had all around.

i have been reloading for my 03a3 and i'm been hitting like that at a 100 yards out, but when am shooting rounds from the 40s and 1950s that stuff just seems to be all over the target. So if you get a chance reload for your 03a3 i think you will like what you see.

I wish I was able to go to the range today.
