I am looking for suggestions for scopes that I could put on my Mauser that shoots 7mm Mag.  Currently I am using a peep sight, but I will have it tapped and drilled for mounts for a scope. I am wondering what scope should I look into for the cost of around $100-200. I would love to be able to shoot out to 200 yds, but mainly the distance I would use it at the range would be at most is 150 yards.  This gun is going to be used for hunting so I may take a shot as close as 50 yards.

I bought a Nikon Prostaff 4 x 32mm for my .22 rifle that I use just for fun, and its great at 50 yards... But what I am looking for my mauser is what I can see at 30-50 yards with my nikon all the way out to 100 yards but without spending a bunch of money.

I just need one that works and is reliable, not an expensive brand name or brand.

Any suggestions or constructive comments are welcome...

Vortex, Mueller, Hawke, Simmons and Bushnell would all probably have scopes that would be reliable enough for you in your price range.

I have or have owned all but Vortex in the past as was very happy with them all.

If you are wnating a variable power I would get a 3x9 or a 4.5x14. Mueller just released a All Purpose Tactical that has a lot of nice features for a reasonable amount of money. Vortex has a very large following so they must be decent scopes for the money. I own a Hawke Varminter II and I use the dials a lot on it during shooting and it always returns to zero.

If you are wanting a no frills fixed power scope then look at something in 10x, like the Bushnell Elite 3200 that can be had for less than $200.

Weaver 6x on sale it's less than $135. Fully multi coated optics, tough as nails - does not change zero -unlike any variable scope made. I've killed mulies and antelope out to 400 yards and have not felt handicapped. used it to shoot my whitetail running at 100 yards this year. my 2cents

I'd get something made in Japan, like the Bushnell Elite or Weaver V series.  Every Chinese scope I have bought has failed.

In that price range I'd go with a Weaver as well.

I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x on my SPS tactical .308 and I really like it. The glass is super clear and has held zero so far. If you are hunting with it the rain guard works very well.
