I want to add a assembled semiauto version to my collection. Who produces a quality functioning unit?
Thanks all. |
|
lone wolf also sells theirs on gunbroker. their customer service is excellent. you may want to read about 1919s a bit before you jump in. you'll need to familiarize yourself with setting the headspace and other maintainence issues. there's an agi dvd available from midway usa that is very helpful with understanding operation and disassembly.
keep in mind, most of the parts are vintage israeli or usgi. there are parts specific to the semi-auto builds that aren't easy to acquire (bolt assembly, trigger, etc.). you'll need to buy a tripod, pintle, possibly a traversing and elevation attachment, links or belts, and a large sturdy case. it can be physically demanding to set up and clean these. having said all that, it's a really neat gun and a joy to shoot on special occasions. good luck. |

Check the WTS section of 1919A4.com. Its a clue how easy it is to find a used 1919 semi auto for sale. The novelty wears off real fast. Everyone warned me about this. I am glad i didn't listen. I still love mine. Thank God for all the cheap belted ammo from the CMP!! |

Mine is in 54R, so I can actually afford to run the snot out of it. Brought it out to the SWFL HTF Shoot last Sunday, everyone enjoyed shooting it. |

I don't think I would bother owning one without the crank. |

The crank would make it a Gatling Gun, any issues one might run into. Who builds these?
All those with one, where did you get them, who manufactured it and any initial issues that needed to be dealt with? Atlantic Firearms will not tell me who builds theirs. TNW builds one, the best of the bunch according to them. Lone wolf has one built through them. All info greatly appreciated. |

I built mine myself, but there are a few builders out there. Do yourself a favor and log onto 1919a4.com Very informative and friendly site, lots of knowledge there. I built mine from a kit I got from KMP, along with a 100% plate and I got a 54R kit from Troy at BarrelXchange. |
| I got a 54R conversion for my Post-86 from Tony as well and look forward to shooting it in the Spring. I've got some extra kits (not for sale) and I've thought about turning one of them into a semi but can't seem to stomach the thought of that so I might just buy a semi that's already built someday. |

It was too many years ago when I bought it, can't really remember who built it. |

I bought one of those 54R kits as well, too bad mine doesnt work no matter what the fuck i do to it and how much Tony helps me. Shit pisses me off beyond belief Do you mean Troy? Tory Edlund at barrelXchange is the guy making them. What issues are you having? |

Mine runs 98%, and I blame most stoppages on the extractor spring that needs tweaking and the links. I'd love to try running a belt, but I can't get mine loaded without an actual belt loader. |

Quoted: http://www.crankfiresystems.com/index.htm They make a 6 lobe crank that is suppose to be quality. Can't get on 1919A4.com, stuck in Q for a week ,no one responds to PM's. I've bee on Emory's list for quite some time now... Try registering again, it didn't take as long for me. |

Quoted: Thanks all, I can not get on 1919A4.com.Trying for 10 days from 3 different locations so I will be leaning on all here. Gun arrives Thurs many ??? to follow. Will get TP, Pintle and T+E from Iron Creations. Try sending 57strat an IM here, IIRC he's a member there also. Don't give up on that site yet! |

The new arrival is perched on my bench awaiting my Iron creations setup. Since neither I or my son or wife can get approved on 1919.com I will read everything I can there and ask questions here. Where is the best place to buy belt/link equipment? No name Tripods were not inexpensive and WW2 vintage were a grand so I went with the known name. Who is good for all the rest?
THANKS ALL. |

I have a conversion coming from troy for 7.62x54. For that i use izzy links which will work with all calibers. If your shooting 8mm or 30-06 you can use 30-06 links which run 1/2-1/3 of the price of izzy links. Copes has the 06 links the cheapest i found. Long mountain outfitters has the izzy links the cheapest i found. For linking the rounds i found this guy named "triggertime" over on the 1919 forum who had 20rd linkers for i think $150 shipped or around their. They are GREAT and i would go as far as to say a necessity if your using a crank or somebody with a f/a. In semi it might not be THAT bad. |

I thought linking 54R on izzy links was about the same (to me) as 8mm on '06 ones. I could do it but after about 100rds my fingers just hurt. I tried 54R on '06 ones. Now THAT is hard. Scratches up the brass and impossible to get out of the links. I would def recommend "triggertime" for a linker. They are really nice and the price was shipped to AK. |

The rimmed cases make it very very hard on your hands. The easiest way is to kind of twist them in, which is very hard on the hands. Without gloves, 20 rounds was about as much as I can do. Linkers are, from what I gather, hit or miss with 54R cases, some work well, some aren't deep enough and won't. Fortunately I picked one up at a gunshow that worked like a dream. |

Doesnt matter if i use links or belts. Ive tried everything there is. I even bought new parts, springs, everything. Nothing i do, or he says fixes my issue. Ive tried what everyone said at 1919a4.com and Beltfedshooters.com as well. As far as linking 54R with links. Piece of cake with 308 Izzy links. Belts on the other hand, green ones seem to be looser. I can do maybe 60 rounds before i start caring about the pain. You have to grab the belt with one hand and twist the shit out of the fabric as you press the round into the belt. Its really easy actually, just gotta figure it out. I Found some old pics of my problems. Check them out This marks on the rim are the rounds i took out of the linked belt because they would not extract. |

How much clearance is there before your front bullet guide and the round when the bolt is in battery? |

I used Czech 54R which is what Troy recommends, not to mention i have a few thousand rounds of it. Needless to say there IS a slight gap between the front cart guide and nose of the bullet. There could be an OAL issue which could mess with the extraction, but what about the vertical feeding and extractor tooth chipping the rim? |
