Man you have to nearly GIVE an AR away these days. Is the market that bad? Evidently it is. Could not sell mine with the goodies or without.

why buy a used gun, when new gun prices are low as they are.
I have seen some people selling used guns for retail prices 
as with buying anything used, unless you know the history of the item, it is a gamble and it is much safer to spend a few bucks more to get it new from the source. |

The point is that not everyone has your tastes and an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it at any given time. |

Depends where you are I guess.
AKs on Calguns are still far more than what they used to be. I know this is CA, so prices are more expensive... I am waiting to pick another up. But the prices are crazy. One local gun store is selling WASRs for $623 out the door. 
That said, it is a great store... but our prices for certian stuff have not fallen yet. |

| The Black rifle market in general is FLOODED with product. Everyone is making an AR...but the AR, popular as it is, still only appeals to a limited number of shooters. Not only that, but the traditional sporting mags like Outdoor Life and Field and Stream, and others have gone "hunting tactical to practical" and tactical to practical ads are flooding the mags and TV. Not only is this stuff expensive in a tight economy, but there are still many traditional hunters out there, or folks who are revisiting the traditional hunting rifles and equipment because it has a comfort-cool factor all it's own. To me ammo is still an issue availibility and cost make gravel pit shooting for recreation alot harder than it used to be. Just my .02... |

I have my AR needs met with 3 ARs, one of which is an MGI quick change barrel set-up. Any modifications I want I can do by buying a part or two instead of an entire rifle. The modularity of the system means that I can still use the lower from the first postban rifle I bought in 1997, on a rifle completely updated to suit my interest today. I'll probably never buy another complete AR.
Oh, and as people realize how modular their AR is they buy accessories and then sell them when they either don't like them or they go out of fashion, which floods the used accessory market and lowers prices. So basically, ARs are crappy investments. Good thing they're so much fun. |

I can't even remember the last time I shot one of my ARs .....and I think the last time I did it was with a 22LR Conversion kit in it . I've thought about buying another one....but seen how little I shoot the ones I have now it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. |
| I was in Florida a few months ago and one of the owners of a local shop was talking about how badly the market had fell down there, we dont have near the demand here in Ohio as we once did either, but as was mentioned all it takes is the rumor of a ban to come along. |

Yup, everything runs in cycles. With the huge and unwarranted up swing in EBR sales in '08, this downswing was in inevitable.
Personally, I'm laughing my ass off at all the last minute buyers and speculators who bought everything in sight back in '08 who are now in debt with guns and accessories worth almost half of what they paid.

I did buy the stuff I wanted for the price I thought was good. However, this administration has continued to surprise me with the amount of crazy stuff they want to pass. Hopefully everyone is right and that there is no new ban coming. I would however keep my eyes peeled for any other crazy regulations that may get passed. Max |

Ummmmmm......Thanks goodness prices have dropped.........  In Maryland (at least around me) you can't find a new one for less than $1100-$1200, and that's for absolute bare minimum. Much like housing prices,nothing makes much sense here. Maybe I'm just missing them but I'm not seeing any consignment sales. The new ones do seem to be sitting there, though. |
