I have a Model B uzi with 16" barrel and folding stock.

I see in the newest Cheaper than Dirt  (I know, I know) they have a wood stock for an UZI for <$20.00.

Will this fit muy UzI, or will I need an adapter that probably costs $600 or so.
I know nothing about UZI's other than this one was too cheap to pass up.
Thanks,
Texashark.

It'll fit no problem.

The ATF treats folding, and quick-detachable stocks differently. A semi-auto Uzi with a quick-detachable stock removed, and a 16" barrel installed, does not meet the 26" overall length requirement for non-NFA rifles. A nearly identical rifle, with a stock that requires a tool to remove, is ok with the stock removed. The same logic? applies to your Uzi with the stock folded.

You can modify the quick-detachable stock so that it requires a tool to remove it. I've seen people block off access to the stock latch except for a small hole (that is smaller than a finger can poke through) so that a tool must be used to press the stock release latch. I don't know if ATF has ever officially said this was OK.

If you choose to modify a q-d stock, you will want to remove the nut that retains your folding stock. This nut also functions as the backplate for the striker spring. (Which is not present in an open bolt Uzi.) The nub on the stock attaching plate will do the same job.

IMI made a fixed stock for the semi-auto Uzi that looks very similar to the Q-D stock, but they are hard to find, and not cheap.

I used a CTD UZI stock for this.  Took a bit of dremel work, but I like it.  It was originally a Vector folder.

Thanks KarlSG1 for the info.

Merkava, what did you have to Dremel?

As a kid, I loved the UZI folding stock....until I shot one.

I used to have an Uzi carbine, and wanted a wood stock on it...what you do is unload it, take apart the Uzi (remove bolt, spring, and buffer––a pair of needle nose pliers works well...note how much is visible), remove the folding stock (it uses one allen screw, it might be peened in place but it will come out). You will see a large (~1/2") hole where the allen screw was; inside is a base plate for the screw which will fall out (might need a slight push with a screw driver).

Take the wood stock, and look at the metal mounting bracket (which is screwed to the wood)...you will see a ~1/2" post that corresponds to the hole in the receiver. You must remove this post. I used a hacksaw, and then used a file to smooth things up a bit...took me about 5 minutes total. Primer/paint to finish.

Remove the metal bracket (1 wood screw above, 2 metal screws below), and using an appropriately sized nut, washer, and bolt, secure the metal bracket to the hole in the receiver. (Bolt goes in from outside, the nut is inside the receiver.) If necessary, remove a small amount of material to make the buffer fit again (Remember the "how much is visible" comment above).

Hold the wood stock against the mounted bracket, and mark the wood stock where the bolt head needs to go...using a small chisel, carve out a hole. (You can also use a drill, but be careful!) Once the hole is big enough, screw the wood stock back onto the plate.

I'm told that this mod is not considered having a "removable" stock, because one will need tools to remove it (the original wood stock could be removed with just a press of the latch).

imho, the Uzi is much better with a wood stock.

My IMI is pretty handy with the folder, i don't think I would want to change.

Tryyyyy ittt, you'llllll liiiiike itttt!

+1 to the folder for handiness and "cool" factor, and it's definitely classic Uzi style...but the wood stock mod doesn't prevent a return to original a folder (originally the Uzi was made with the wood stock, folder came some years later) and it's great to snuggle up a good "cheek weld."

Boy, that didn't sound right...

Just buy a registered bolt and don't worry, be happy.
