Does anyone know where I can find a sling stud that would be big enough to fit a Magpul MS2 sling? I need a stud of some sort for the rear sling attachment on the MS2 sling.
Basically, what I want to do is add a screw in stud into a black synthetic KVAR stock on my AK74 so I can run my single point MS2 sling. I have already made the front work, now I just need to find out a way to make the rear work. I also want to make sure it will not come loose unexpectedly. Basically I would like to find something with a fair size hole so I can use that without any kind of swivel adapter. One guy suggested I just use standard AK style sling swivel from the rear of the stock, that is a good idea, but if I can find one I would like to run a H&K style loop. |

There's several ways of doing this.
As I understand the sling, you need a round ring on the stock for the sling hook to attach to. 1. Get a milled military sling swivel made for a Mauser or Springfield rifle. Inlet it into the stock and attach it with two longer wood screws. Use a little epoxy in the screw holes as insurance. To get fancy, remove the swivel loop, cut it down and bend it into a round or oval loop and re-insert it back into the swivel base. 2. Get a machine shop to make you a stud. This would have a large enough head with a hole to accept the sling hook. The shank would be reduced in diameter and threaded. You could go with a long wood screw thread, or even better with a machine thread on an even longer shank. The shank would pass all the way through the stock and would screw into a inletted nut on the other side. This would be a fast and cheap project for any machine shop. 3. Use an ordinary sling swivel screw-in stud. Buy one that has a longer shank. Screw it into the stock using epoxy. Use some blued or stainless heavy wire to make a loop, and install it in the stud hole. Snap the sling hook to the loop. |
