I've heard of AKs being made to look like M16s for movies filmed in the old Soviet Bloc.  Since they do not have access to adequate props they just change the appearance of the AKs.  It could be one of those.

Is that Ving Raimes and Gerard Butler? If so, I do not think they have even been in a movie together.
The whole things looks like photoshop fail.

Well they are in Hollywood so it's Cali compliant with no pistol grip.

It is the newest M16A5, it uses A-47 magazines but you have to keep the forward assist pushed forward or it won't fire, it's a smart rifle!

Yep, my answer was the AkAr.....the abominalbe results of a drunken night on the bad side of town.

This.

They did the same thing in the Day of the Dead remake.

It's an AK dolled up to look AR-ish....you can see the ejector port and the rear sight base of the AK, with an AR "upper" somehow attached to the AK's top cover.

Why? This is the USA, we should have AR15/M16 props without this nonsense...

Milled AK thats had the shit hacked out of it, damn.  Actor is Ed Burns, was in Saving Private Ryan w/ the BAR.

I know it's super huge, but it shows the weirdness a lot better.  Not photoshop.  Pretty wild if you ask me.  Like the magwell attached to the mag.

It makes baby Jesus cry that's for sure  I'm bet both Stoner and Kaleshnikov would merrily team up and beat to death the prop guy who bubba'd that shit together[img]http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_dead.gif

I think the movie is Echelon Conspiracy. It was primarily filmed in Eastern Europe, but in this day and age, I'd think it wouldn't be too hard to get a proper M16 prop...

I think you hit it right on the head. Take an AK, a few AR parts and a couple tubes of JB weld and that's what you wind up with.

They seriously couldn't find an M16 prop?

Full retard is right, what movie is this from, or show?

Poor, poor milled AK.  I kinda want to put that abortion in my collection though... just like I offer $50 on bubba'd-up milsurps (think the guy who took a pre-1899 Mosin, welded pipe to it, and made a knockoff muzzle break.  Too bad he thought it was worth two grand )

Mal's was a modded AR180 and I think Jaynes was a prettied up AK of some flavor
2/22/2010 9:20:43 AM EDT

Jayne's was a AK Bullpup with a Mossberg 500 pump grip and the huge "barrel" shroud on it.

Mal's is a AR180 modified with a ventilated barrel shroud.

What kind of slide is that on the glock?  The extractor is different.  Modified to fire blanks of some sort?

it's a replica with a very thin wall pipe for a barrel.

So somebody finally made a AK-16....

I guess that settles the AK vs AR debates
