I like SureFire.  It's what I've been issued (From upscale NOD-friendly M951 to low end G2 in CAA mount, depending on the unit's budget) and have been very impressed.

Surefire makes great lights and my handheld carry lights are all Surefire. I did go with the Streamlight TLR-1 for my weapon mounted light (on a G17) due to its high cost effectiveness. It's been a terrific light.

surefire is kinda the standard....for a reason. They are tough and durable....I got a 6P many moons ago and it is still running strong.

depending on the model...they can be battery hogs.....but it lets you know it's on.

most of their weapons lights are bright enough to blow the visual reseptors out of the back of your skull.

the next best would be the insight technologies....their m3s...m6s...basically the entire line of light and light laser combos are very decent and definitly worth looking into.

none of them are cheap....but when it comes to weaponlight...recoil survivability is paramount.

I'm generally not so picky with general purpose hand lights.....for friends and such....I still carry my 6P.....or M3 combat.
