Its fun to shoot cheap preban mags since Im from NY but I wouldn't use it for SHTF. Rather have a real HK. The dust cap broke off after only a few trips to the range. Maybe a M1a scout.

The UZI is fun, for a while, but it's quite heavy for what it is, and a semi auto carbine just isn't as cool as what a REAL UZI is...

I have one, don't think I'll get rid of it either, but I think if I lost it somehow I or it was stolen, I probably would not replace it...

AK-74 is really, really, REALLY fun.  I find it to be spot-on accurate and you can still find some surplus ammo for cheap.  Even Wolf 5.45x39mm ammo tends to run a little less than regular 7.62x39mm, and since you're behind enemy lines you'll find preban mags as well.

For your next battle rifle, I think you'll like it.  Mine is a "ban compliant" model and there's little recoil, low recoil, and negligible muzzle flash/rise.  It's a real hoot

I was thinking an XCR but Im gonna wait a few years see how the ACR and XCR are both doin. Would love a PS90 But only if i could SBR it. Got to handle a real Military slovanian f200 and it was bulky didnt care for it much. Already have one new .308 gaand might get a 2nd from CMP when I buy my M1 carbine. cant have class 3 in NY.Thanks again for your input keep it comin.

I don't think that's something that is common to PTR's. It has a US made dust cap so you could probably just replace it with a factory cap. So it broke off to where you can't just put in back in? My PTR's reliability is on par with my Arsenal AK's. I've put thousands of rounds of steel cased wolf through it with zero malfunctions. I'm not saying I would want it for SHTF but it is a great rifle. The only reason I wouldn't take it for SHTF is because with a scope, bipod and Magpul PRS stock it weighs a ton.

What kind of AK do you have by the way?

The Glockaholics can't help themselves.  They see a gun buying thread and it's like a reflex even if it's a rifle or the OP has stated he absolutely doesn't want a Glock, etc and they have to post "get a Glock".

It's really pathetic.

Except for the fact that the OP has a Glock 23 in HIS  list......I'd say you guys were right.

Larry,
My fault for piss poor reading comprehension....you're right....it was on his "already owned" list.  My apologies for being a smart ass.

I do still stand by the 1911 thing.... I've seen it just as much as you seem to have seen in from the Glock-only goobers.  Hey, everyone has their favorites I suppose.

Again, my apologies for misreading the list.

Take care,

I would say either a 22lr upper for the AR15 (assuming it is your go to rifle), or a spare on what ever is your go to rifle. Then a spare G23 along with a 22lr conversion kit for it. Usually when people ask these questions their collection is not nearly as well rounded as yours. You seem to have just about all the basics covered so other than the 22lr conversions, I would add a 38/357 snub as a suggestion.

+1000
plenty of  (big hard hitting ) old surplus for 2.99-3.99 per 20 rounds.  And accurate out to 1000 if you get a  91/30 with a barrel thats still in good condition

You might want to consider what some of us who have gone before grew up with: M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M14/M1A. Since you have access to M-16 stuff, you might want to consider something like the SIG556 over the Galil, which has proprietary mags and other parts.

No matter what you should pick up one of these from Aim for 210.00
