Alrighty,
I'm asking here because I thought I'd get a less biased opinion than in the dedicated Sig forum. Anyway, is the Sig 556P worth it? I'd like to get one and eventually SBR it, but only if it's a quality piece. I've been hearing interweb rumors of Sigs poor quality of late, and I was wondering if it applies to the 556 series as well. Thanks |

I've had mine about a year now, I have yet to have any type of failure with the gun.
my action is very smooth, and it suppresses well (contrary to alot of what I'd heard) the sig red dot site is a joke, but it does the job. the gun is by no means a match rifle, but holds its own, I however am a terrible shot. I have also not cleaned mine yet, probably 1500 rounds thru it, and havent turned to the robust gas setting yet. I really like the look of the newest ones that people have traded into the 552 handguards on, I also think it would balance it out a bit, I have the railed forend, and its a touch heavier than my HK 53 clone. |
| I have had my 556 Classic for about two weeks. I have only put about 50 rds. through it so far, but accuracy looks ok and reliability is perfect so far. I have also discovered how to improve the trigger, giving it the feel of the two stage trigger of the M-1 Garand and M-14. Very nice. |

Provided I SBR it, what are my options for stocks? Will just about any AR stock fit? If it doesnt have a Classic lower than any AR stock will work, I have a UBR on mine. and the UBR looks fantastic on it. I had one on mine before I decided to bite off the classic lower |

I have one and SBR'd it quickly!
Added a Samson rail, lost the 'yoke' on the front of the forward grip/rail and added an Ace folding stock. Slam on the Gemtech G5 and its a real hot rifle that has never failed/jammed/done any thing wrong...in fact at 50 yards its a tack driver (not bad for a 10" barrel) as fast as you can squeeze 'em. Pics to follow... |

I'm surprised no one makes some sort of adaptor so a folder can be put on there is an Ace adapter that would add some length, but with the weight of the UBR, I would be concerned with its durability. DId he mean 'any' folder could be put on? Sig makes a folder extension tube but it's back ordered so far that its selling for $300 on GB if you can find one and that's without a stock! The Ace folder is a classic and with the butt pad its very comfortable to shoot from the shoulder and folds completely out of the way. I love this weapon... |
