I thought I heard that you can manufacture your own gun as long as you are not looking to sell it  (federal laws, I don't care about the rules in the People's Soviet of New Jersey or the People's Republic of California etc.)

What about the danger of the BATFE delairing your semi-auto a full auto becuse its easy to convert in their opinion?

I am probably going to hear this is a very bad idea because of the above reason but is it legal?

Just wondering.

If you build a firearm with none of the characteristics that have been
deemed to be those of an NFA firearm and are in compliance with
any local laws in your area, you should be good to go.

To avoid any of the "easily converted" business, staying away from
open-bolt designs should put you in the clear. If are building from a de-
milled parts kit that was formerly an NFA weapon, you should alter any
of the full-auto-related parts so that they will function only as a semi-
automatic. Make sure that these modified parts fit your build in a way
that will not allow unmodified parts to easily replace them.

These are a couple of things I've learned from reading DIY books.
hope I've explained them in a way that makes sense. I'm sure some-
one will be along with more detailed information and advice. HTH.

Spelling edit.

Thanks, I thought as long as it was for personal use and was not NFA type it was fine.
