Great guns, built like tanks, but most were assembled in the US by Century morons.  Read post #6 at this link for the lowdown on the two most common problems, ground bolt and canted sights.

Now, if it was imported by MARS, you're probably good to go.  Surplus mags were still $3 each last time I checked, but that was before the election.

ETA: IIRC some mag wells ended up too narrow as well, make sure mags will insert easily.

If you can find a properly assembled one, it's a low-cost HK91. I had one, shot well, ergos, like the HKs aren't the greatest but for shooting from the prone at 100-200+m it was good. Wouldn't want to clear a house with it because lengthwise, it's similar to the G3 and FAL, but it's a good open-field rifle.

If it's been properly assembled it's about the cheapest, military grade standard capacity 7.62 rifle you can find.

I have one of the Century stamped receiver CETME's and I like it a lot but it did have issues to begin with. The bolt was ground. The sights were canted but Century fixed it under warranty. I had to install a new bolt as well as oversize rollers and a locking piece to get a good bolt gap. I removed the brake and installed a US made flash hider to keep the compliance parts up. It has been a reliable and fairly accurate rifle but it does kick a lot more with the FH than the brake. At least I am not bashing the people next to me at the range with the overpressure now.

Pic from when I first bought it. It as $375 at the funshow back when I got it so I do not feel bad about the money I added to fix it.

I love mine fun to shoot! I have an early stainless model, bought about 6 years ago. I see Cetme mags here for around 10 or so. Just get mil surplus ammo. To me that seems the spendy part of the rifle. It will rip non heat treated thin brass up. Most will take G3 mags which are cheap.

My 2 cents
