Ok. So I just put a scope on my 10-22 and couldn’t wait to get to the range and sight it in.
Here’s a pic. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo82/bearsfan_01/Pic011.jpg I just took this pic to post on a picture thread. Then I look at the pic and the scope looks a little too far back. So I pull the rifle back out and take the lens caps off and this is what I see. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo82/bearsfan_01/Pic054.jpg I probably should have stopped right there and checked for a warranty but I didn’t. I got this as a gift about 9 years ago so I figured it would be out by now. So I started disassembling it! http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo82/bearsfan_01/Pic062.jpg http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo82/bearsfan_01/Pic061.jpg I can see the lens and retaining ring inside the tube, but don’t know if it’s worth going any farther. The plastic ring has actually penetrated through the crosshairs and the they are now bent. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo82/bearsfan_01/Pic058.jpg Is this worth going into any farther? Does anyone know if I should try tasco for a possible repair, or since it’s an inexpensive scope, just junk it and pop for another one? I’m kind of bummed about this because I haven’t even used it. Is this common for tasco? |
| JMO, I wouldn't mess with it. Take the money you would have to pay Tasco for S&H, and for repair charges, (yours was probably made before 2002) - Put a couple bucks w/it & get a new scope. - I have several Tasco scopes & wouldn't recommend them. Right now my favorite low end scopes are Nikko-Stirling Gold & Barska, I'm sure other people will chime in with thier favorites. Good Luck! |
| Tasco customer service sucks as bad as their scopes. I had a very old one that was great and other than that, you couldnt give me one of their products! I put a new scope on a 308 and it fell apart after my first 2 shots. When I called them up I was told that they didnt really design the scope to be put on a firearm with as much recoil as a 308...... WTF? |
