That stock looks like it'd break just sitting in a safe.

-1 for the stock, but it’s nice they have ambi mag release.

Why is a new Colt featured with a Magpul magazine?

Good for Magpul!

I like it.  Stock is unique, I guess the idea is to make it as small as the operating system would allow.  Seems ideal for something you'd want as a weapon in a small space like a vehicle where getting in/out is a hassle with larger weapons.  10.5" barrel on that?  Looks like a monolithic upper to my untrained eyes?

I'd give them $120 for the stock.    Probably a $500 option though!

Colt stated to me that they have no plans for civilian/commercial sales, and no plans to offer the stock as a seperate item.

Typical.

It is a monolithic top end.  Same sights and upper as the new 6940.  The stock actually felt pretty solid for a folder.  There was no play in it and it felt durable.  At the moment it is military and police only.  Colt rep said it was primarily designed for motorcycle mounted police and other applications where storage space is at a premium.

It is pretty badass.  I want one.

Any idea how the stock functions?  i.e., how the recoil system works, and it appears that the stock both folds and extends - which is important for body armor, etc.

That is one sexy bitch.

Love the stock idea...I wonder how durable it is.

It felt pretty damn durable to me.  Quite annoying to try to unfold one-handed while holding a camera, for what it's worth (and the guy photographing it before me had the exact same problem ;) ).  Very little play, solid lockup, fairly easy-access buttons.  Obviously not much of an evaluation, but from the looks of it a good stock design.  Wonder who's making it for them?

Why makes something and not try and sell it to everyone you can?

The firearms industry always amazes me with that.

You don't.  Besides, it's a proprietary design and won't work on a standard AR.
