Does anyone have any GOOD experiences with any after market Mini 14 magazines?

(good meaning reliable and fully functional)

I only have one factory 20rnd mag right now and God only knows when I'll ever be able to buy more 20 rounders.

I've been looking it up, but it seems there aren't any GOOD aftermarket mags to buy for the Mini 14.

Anyone got any advice/expertise?

Try the Ruger on-line store internet special deal for factory 20rd Mini-14 mags at $29.95.  Best deal I've ever seen for Ruger factory mags.  Says temporarily out of stock now.  I'd order now anyway and they'll fill the order and ship later.

Ruger

Also, most seem to say PMI/Fed Ord mags, if you can find them, are excellent.

The PMI are ok.  The problem is that they haven't been made since 1994.

PMI, Fed Ord, Thermolds, work extremely well.  I have 8-9 of the new Promag 30's, and they work well in my Mini, and AC556, only thing with them is they will get soft if you lay them out in the hot summer sun.
I have heard that the Mason Black Warrior mags are decent, but I don't have any direct experience with them.

ETA:  Hell, it looks like Thermold is back in business!  http://www.thermoldproducts.com/products.html

My Mini-14 Ranch rifle worked perfectly with PMI 30 round magazines.  Although I don't believe they are still in production, you can still find them on the net.  The price on the ones I found through Google tonight seemed kind of high at $46 per mag though:

My experience is that nothing works as well as the factory mags. PMI is second best but I have had jams with them and never with my factory mags. I would put your name on the Ruger site wait list. The PMI mags that jam did not jam when I replaced the followers with followers from the factory Ruger 5 round mags which are just like the followers on their 20/30 rd mags.

I bought a bunch from Ruger at $29.95.  This is the best deal going.  I still see these for sale for $50+ & it looks like people are buying.

Go to THE Mini-14 Site, www.perfectunion.com, and then go to the magazine forums.  They will have the latest and best dope on mags, and also have good pix of aftermarket mags, both good ones and bad units.
