I have a California legal Imbel FAL. (has a fixed mag). I really love this rifle, but cant get past how lame the fixed mag is. I have been thinking about trading it for a M1A which will allow me to use detachable magazines.

I just got offered a lightly used SA M1A with a synthetic stock if i throw in $150 with my FAL. Do you think this is a reasonable deal?

Also leaving California is out of the question

Yes, take the trade. I am a dealer in exotic arms and the value of your fixed mag Imbel should be around $500 - $600. A new M1A is about $1200. Good luck.
