I am loking at getting a new rifle .270 the 2 I can't decide on are a S&W I bolt or a Weatherby Vanguard both will cost about the same but I am having trouble picking. I know that the Weatherby has a acc. guarantee but what about the S&W. Anybody that has either or knows anything good give reasons to get or don't get it.

Whats the purpose for the rifle and what is most important to you in a rifle?

If it were me looking for a 270, It'd be for whitetail, and it would be a Browning BLR.

Isn't the Vanguard made by Howa in Japan?

I say spend a little more and buy a Tikka T3 or CZ 550.  There are various configuratios of both to choose from.

BB how does your BLR shoot?  I traded my BLR .308 off because it held a group as good as my Ruger Mini 30.

I think it had something to do with the barrel band on the forearm, I noticed the new BLR no longer have that.

I now have a Browning A-bolt .308 and I am very happy with it.

I would be going with a Weatherby SUB-MOA or a Tikka T3

I used to have a Belgian 308 pre-81 BLR that was very accurate; if I remember correct it shot well under 2MOA with ballistic tip, and that was just screwing around getting the scope sighted. I dont have it anymore, wish I still had it given the rarity.

What about a Winchester Model 70?
FN is making them now and they like nice. You can check them out in the latest American Rifleman Oct. issue.
You all are NRA members right?
If not sell all your guns and get some rocks and sticks.
