I have one of the wise lite ppsh-41's sold through MGS. I took it out and ran about 200 rounds of bulgarian surplus through it.  it shot well once it got all the grease out of the little spots.

the bulgarian is terribly filthy ammo, as i expected.  I cleaned the hell out of it, used ammonia on the barrel, and lubed it.

I am wondering about this though.  the bolt carrier has this discoloration to it pretty much spread all over it.  i am wondering if it is some sort of corrosion or if its simply the carrier being new and being worn in while firing?

the exterior seems fine so far.

I don't know what the discoloration is, but your bolt looks cracked in picture #2.

It does looked cracked. Do you know if these were cast or forged? It could be a casting mark???

Also the discoloration looks like maybe a chemical may have got on it. Could he ammonia have done that?

its not a crack, just a bit of caked carbon, that seeped from the bolt handle.  it came right off.

im going to call MGS about this discoloration though.

The discoloration looks like mild surface corrosion from corrosive ammo in years past.  It may have been slightly used before being converted to the rifle you own today.  My HK-91 bolt looks the same way.  It's from not cleaning off corrosive residue fast enough.  No big deal...just on the surface.  Enjoy your new blaster.

It may have been very well used. Most of these old guns weren't cleaned as well as they should have been and frosted (or heavily pitted ) bores and other components are common.

I've had mine for about 3 weeks, a Wise Lite build. It runs very well on surplus I bought that came from Century Arms. The ammo has duds but it's not the rifle as the primer hits are solid. My biggest bitch is with the top eject that ammo blows all kinds of crap back at you. I tried a handfull of Sellier & Bellot I got from a friend and it ran cleaner but wasn't as "hot".

I've thought about using one of my PPSh-48 kits for a pistol build but barrel it in 9mm as well so that I can use two different calibers of ammo.  I've got a thing for drum fed pistols and this sounds easier than a Suomi right now.
