Can I put any surplus 7.62x51 through a Remington .308 and keep and keep going and keep going?

Short answer: yes.

Don't expect real good accuracy though.

Might have feeding and short stroking problems.  The case dimensions should be identical between .308 and 7.62, but rifles that are chambered for 7.62 NATO generally have looser tolerances because of variations in cartridge dimensions.  So you might run into an out of spec 7.62 round that will not fit in your .308 chamber.  Also, factory loaded .308 is usually loaded to higher pressures than 7.62, so 7.62 might not have enough power to operate semi autos.

You could shoot Federal Match ammo and still have poor accuracy.

About $20,000.00 worth. (based on current value of dollar and current value of a .308 ammo)
