I want to get a .22 conversion for my 1911 to make practice more cost effective.  I am looking for a kit that will duplicate the stock 1911 as closely as possible.  I have seen the advantage arms kit, and it looked like it had a fixed barrel, and only the rear part of the "slide" moved.  I am looking for something like the AA kit for the glock where the whole silde moves.

So I ask the Hive mind, Which conversion kit will suit my needs the best?  I need the manual of arms to be the same as the factory gun, and be able to use the same mag pouches and holsters.

TIA

Kimber's 1911 kit should fit the bill for you.  I love mine.  I don't have mine with me right now, so I can't comment whether the mags will fit in the same pouches, but they should.  FWIW, my .22lr slide looks almost identical to my standard Kimber slide.

AA also has a kit where the whole slide moves back and locks back on the last round also. I think the kit you are talking about is thier target model, but they have a standard model as well. Also Marvel has some really nice stuff, Wilson Combat uses them for thier conversions i know. But the slide doesn't lock back on the last round with the Marvel kit. But I've heard great things about accuracy and quality of Marvel. Or for a normal kit there is always the Ciener.

I have the Kimber kit. It works like a champ on my Norenco .45. Took just a touch of fitting. Also, the ciner 15 round mags work fine with it.
