What type of rifle does a bi pod affect for accuracy? I can see the barrel attachment, but what about hand guards and other furniture?

whats the difference between holding the handguard with your hand or with a bipod.

what i mean is, assuming it doesnt touch the barrel directly, it shouldnt affect accuracy

If mounted on the barrel, or something else that is connected to the barrel, it might affect accuracy a little.  If your barrel is free floating, don't worry about it.

There is possibly some skill I am missing but I have found that I shoot much better with a rest or bags then I did with the couple of different bipods I have tried. It seems that the gun bounces during recoil or as the trigger breaks .

Bipod hop gets me all the time.  Take a shot and you are looking through your scope at something completely different.  I shoot better off a bag only because it seems to be easier to stay on target.

Bipods don't so much effect accuracy as they shift POI. Your 3 MOA rifle may still shoot 3 MOA when you use a bipod, but expect your groups to be a little (or maybe a lot) higher.

I know the FAL guys recommend removing the bipod for a more consistant POI.

Now unless your barrel is free floating, a bipod can cause a POI shift. Doesn't matter if it's on the handgaurds or not, if the handgaurds are attached the barrel, it's possible for the bipod to cause a POI shift. How much, I can't claim to know.

What I don't understand is how using the bipod on a FAL can change POI from where it would be if you were holding the handgaurds with your hand or resting them on sandbags. Either way you're applying upward pressure on the barrel, right?
