Can anyone recommend a good safe for around $150-$200. 5 guns w/ room for ammo, scopes, and things?

I used a jobsite gang box, uses 2 #5 master padlocks, and has a full length piano hinge welded up the side of door

The box is 2' x 2' x 6'     stood this up on end and put it on some wood blocks for easy access.  Put in 2 shelves for storage  ammo, scopes etc. Cut some 2x2's so the barrels would lay into.  Holds 8-10 weapons, depending on how you like it

After it is locked, the only way in is with a torch as the locks are recessed in

THANKS

Check Wal-Mart out. That price should could get you into the right range for one of their smaller Sentry brand 5 or 10 gun safes. While I wouldn't classify these as "good", they are more sturdy than the Homak gun cabinets if you bolt them down so they can't easily be carted off.

However, they have another model, that I believe holds 14 guns and costs around $500 that's a much better safe. It offers no fire protection but it is built pretty well considering what it costs. I'd recommend this one. Even if you only need a safe capable of holding 5 guns right now, that will change. A general rule of thumb is to buy one twice as big as what you think you'll need. They fill up quickly.

Got some pics of your setup? About how much did it cost, and where can you get it from?

+1 they have sentry safes for around 200-300 there.  I bought my stack on for 450ish and that same day i went to walmart and saw i could get the same safe for about 100 bucks less.

+1 on the gang box

After I grow out of that, which I still gave for all my ammo boxes, I got a Liberty safe.

government surplus auctions is a possibility for cheap stuff.  Shipping will kill you, so it needs to be local.
