I got this information from another forum but want to know if there is any truth to this?
I trust this forum community to confirm or deny stuff like this, after all if not here then where? This is the link to the page where I got this info.

PS, Not sure how old this is and if this has already been discussed then the link to that forum is appreciated. Thankshttp://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=4297420

Bushmaster response to Bushmaster ACR
Thank you for inquiring about the new Bushmaster ACR rifle!

At this point in time we are in the testing stage of the rifle. We are hoping to have pricing by the middle of May, delivery currently scheduled in the late 2nd or early 3rd quarter this year. Final initial versions have not been determined at this point, it will be offered in 5.56mm with black coloration in the beginning. We have not determined other colors or other calibers at this point.

I want a tan one.

Tan would be cool, but a chambering in 5.45 with proprietary magazine with a last round bolt hold open would be cooler. (read, not AK mags)

Huh.

I never figured it would be black.

I wonder how it looks.

Late 2nd early 3rd.  Good that gives me plenty of time to save up.

This same thing was reported over in the "Industry" Section here under the Bushmaster Forum.

I can't say for sure whether it is true or not.

Does seem in keeping with other things we've been told since SHOT.

Ya know, that's fucked up considering the 7.62x39 conversion was the Masada's highest selling point.

At least Robarm doesn't say one thing and then do another to its customers.

True.

But maybe Magpul or Bushmaster might sell a piston kit that would let you buy your own barrels and just pop it in the rifle from the get go.  I think I heard something about Magpul making 7.62x39 mags too.

What they should do is offer a 7.62x39 ACR and a 223 ACR (both capable of being converted to the other caliber).  Why should I have to buy 223 rifle that I won't shoot (in that caliber), and then have to buy a whole new barrel?

Bushmaster only bought the license for the 5.56x45mm Masada they probably want to see how sales go before they purchase the license for the 7.62x39mm version.

This is what happens when the design isn't in-house folks.

Probably be SHOT 2009 before you see a 7.62x39 or 6.8 SPC version rolling out (probably both) and who knows how long before you see the Massoud get picked up by Bushmaster.

Still, the 5.56x45mm ACR should be a good rifle and is worth the money.  Worse case scenario is that you end up with a real nice 5.56x45mm rifle.  If you're all about the modular aspect probably best to wait on it or go with an XCR.

If Bushmaster is smart, they are already cranking out serial numbered receivers by the bucket load.  Heck, any "assault weapon" manufacturer should be doing that.  No telling what the SC will do, and no telling what November will bring either.

You know the only reason that bushmaster said that is so people "like us" wont hound the hell out of them wanting special calibers/colors even though they DO HAVE other calibers/colors in mind,  look at the 08' shot show vid's on youtube, there is a green ACR on the table so that proves there are other colors, and yes 7.62x39 and 6.8 mm were very high selling points but remember ANY M4/M16 barrel will work and there is a variety of calibers offered in 7.62x39 and 6.8, Now all we need is a matching bolt head cause mags are already available for both.  Lets all just hold back from making stabs at bushmaster till we get the finished product.

Lets not let this turn into another STG556 forum of stabbing the company.

A 7.62x39 version of the rifle was all but guarenteed.  Now Bushmaster is treating it like an afterthought.  That kind of flip-flopping would have John Kerry proud.

I'd rather have one in 5.45X39 myself, just more upside to the cartridge.

I would prefer 5.45x39 as well

And yes 7.62x39 was more or less promised to us and im not taking up for Bushmaster because they "in my opinion" make some of the "lower" quality AR products as compared to other manufacurers, they also have a habit of not listning to civilian consumers input because they have LE contracts to fall back on, this is pretty shitty on there behalf.

Please understand all I was saying is lets see the product line first.  I do agree that the "attitude" has changed since bushmaster took over the Masanda project

Hopefully we will still have a top of the line product but I guess time will tell

I wouldnt get all worked up about a product that isnt out.

Bushmaster is still trying to get the final details in place.

All will be known soon enough

This brings up a few questions for me at least:
Will Bushmaster sell the parts needed to convert a regular AR barrel into an ACR barrel? Also is this something user installable in the first place? The gas block looks easy enough but is that threaded collar something that needs to be pressed on? If converting a barrel requires special tools such as a press, will Bushmaster convert customer supplied barrels or are we limited to Bushmaster barrels.
