I just bought a FN SPR A1 and was wondering what is the best .308 ammunition for target shooting that isn't too expensive besides home reloads.
Also what grain should I get?
I also need to learn how to shoot with the rifle so should I get some cheap stuff? like some foreign Igman ammo?

Ok, I was going to answer with reloads, but you nixed that idea.

No one can tell you with what ammo your rifle is going perform best.
In fact, someone with the same rifle purchased 6 months probably couldn't tell. Each rifle will vary.

Seriously though, the best bet is to buy a bunch of different brands of ammo. I found out a rifle of mine loved the PMC Silver box which was almost the 2nd cheapest factory ammo. Yet, it sucked when using ammo that cost twice as much. In fact, the PMC shoots almost as good as some reloads.

Use the cheapest ammo to sight in the rifle then use a bench rest of sorts to run your test of 5 shot groups.

Good Luck!!!
