| is there a FAQ on this somewhere? I know I have seen it asked alot. |

The TSA website has the info and it is pretty much the same for all airlines. In a nutshell, Locked in a secure case unloaded. No ammo with gun. (ammo can be in luggage in original box IIRC) You have to check in at the counter and declare the gun there. They will tell you what to do then. When arriving the gun will come out with all the other luggage. I took a keltec p3AT with me to philly last year, I had this little box, 3"x8"x5" it was locked in. Funny as hell seeing this little locked box pop out of the luggage carousel. I wonder what everyone was thinking when they saw it amongst all those full sixe suitcases etc. |

Here's the TSA policy on shipping firearms. Go to the website of whatever airline you're traveling, print out their regulations on traveling with firearms. Bring both with you when you travel to the airport. As long as you comply with the rules set forth you shouldn't have any difficulties. www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1666.shtm |

it's too easy walk up to the baggage check in declare the firearm fill out a quick form stating their is a firearm in the locked case. they will ask you to open th ecase up. it should already be opend facing the airline checkin person. no magazine (if they take them) in magwell, no ammo. if ammo present must be seperate and out of magazine. i use an empty chamber indicator and trigger lock (useless) but it shows them you care plus the checkin chick was like "very nice rifle and i see you have a trigger lock on it" after that it was smooth sailing.you will, depending on where you land. be required to picdk up the firearm at a main baggage area. this way they check you ID and baggage ticket to verify it's not someone slinking off with your gun. i've checked firearms in 4 times w/out any issues. |
I would be worried that someone figures out what it is with a case that size, particularly the baggage pilferers, oops I mean handlers. |
