Knoxville, Tennessee. November 1, 2004. A gun battle between two vehicles erupts near a local magnet high school with the assailants armed with two assault rifles and a .45- caliber Commando Mach 3 submachine gun. Police captured the men after they fled on foot to a nearby Toys-R-Us. Does someone have a picture of this gun? Thanks |
I remember those. It's a cast receiver low rent "copy" of a tommy gun. No parts commonality IIRC. I remember seeing semi-auto ones. I don't remember full auto, but they were out before '86 so anything is possible. I just saw one in a gun shop the other day. Semi auto. $500. I passed. Here is one that sold for $350 on gunbroker.com |
IIRC they use M3 Greasegun mags. <edit> Seems like they were made both ways, either M3 mags (Mark 3) or Thompson mags (Mark 4 version) Went to an auction once where one was on the sale list. Looked cool from a distance but up close it was kinda cheesy. |
My dad has one that uses thompson mags. Its ok for what it is, IIRC he bought his about ten years ago for $300 dollars with a dozen mags. |
Totally different gun. There were open-bolt semi's made in the 60's under the "Apache" and "Spitfire" name......both using tubular M3A1 style receivers. The Spitfire was reclassified as an NFA weapon due to the fact if you pulled the trigger, and jammed the safety at the same time, it would run full auto. The guns made by Volunteer Arms with the rectangular section receivers all fired from closed bolt, and were avail. as the Mark 3, Mark 45, and Mark 9.....they stopped making them in the 80's...... Basically the "Raven" or "Bryco" of semi-auto carbines...... |
