$300 or so.
Less if you settle for one of the neutered post ban models.

They stopped making TEC-9s in 2001. TEC-9s were/are complete crap. Said piece of crap will cost you between $300-$400, and a lot of aspirin.

Take $300, throw it into the Gulf of Mexico, and watch it drift away until you can't see it anymore.

Trust me, it'll be a better use of the money.  I don't care how cool it looked in "Big Trouble in Little China", once you buy one its morel like "big jamming in little caliber".

I used to own a Intratec Tec-9 and it was actually very reliable.  From what I hear, I received the only good one they ever manufactured.  My wife loved that gun and still bitches at me for getting rid of it.

I just don't understand what the benefit of that gun is.

I don't understand the benefit of a lot of different guns, but I like most of them anyway.  It was a fun gun for plinking, but you're right, it has no "sporting purpose" and would be a PITA for CCW.

Tec-9s suck.

People who know firearms don't own Tec-9s unless its for the purpose of humor.

That's funny- I almost bought one that came through the shop I worked at for those very purposes.  I was in college, though, and couldn't afford to buy a $250 joke, so I didn't.

The only other reason I could see buying one besides the joke factor/and or plinking if you get a working one, and it would have to be a preban, would be just to have something open-bolt, but if you've got that much and want an open bolt, I personally would go with a MAC.

The KG-9 was an open bolt.  The KG-99 and the Tec-9 were closed bolt.

I have seen pre-ban Tec-9 and KG-99s for any where between $250-$450. Post-ban AB-10s from $200-$350. I have owned 2 and never had a problem with either as long as I used either early factory mags (not the USA mags that came with most post ban models) or Suomi mags that I modified to fit. The suomi mag thing is a long story about how I discovered it so I'll spare you the details. It's not a very practical handgun because of the weight and size (my glock 17 has the same capacity with 33rd. mags). A bunch of people talk bad about them but the 2 that I owned worked just as well as my Glock's,Sig's and other high priced firearms. Maybe I got lucky or no one else used good mags. I found that it liked some ammo more than other brands as with a lot of firearms. It's your choice and money so I hope you make a decision that pleases you.

i had a Tec DC9 that was 100% relaibale with even HP's..it spit out everythign i put in her and was suprisingly accurate..the friend i sold it to still has it and loves shooting it..i guess they were just hit and miss...no pun intended

Original TEC-9s weren't terrible, I had one for a while that ran just as well as any of my ARs. I only sold it because I didn't have much use for a foot long 9mm pistol with no stock. The "neutered TEC-9s" aren't TEC-9s, they are AB10s, and aren't made quite as well as TEC-9s.

Tec 9's are cool.  All of the gold grill gangsters prefer it.

Yeah, those gangsters love Glocks too, sing about them all the time. What a terrible weapon.

Some of the "gold grill gangsters" that own tec-9's and variants happen to be Iraq veterans who have discovered that some of those P.O.S "gangster guns" are more reliable than the fancy Beretta's they had to carry as a back-up weapon. I have an abundance of weapons that I can choose from for defense and either of my Intratec's would be on the list. It's not the greatest weapon in the world or the most practical of handguns but it does look scary and that's what got it banned. The government does not want me to have it so I have to have two! How many of the people that have talked bad about them have ever owned one (with good mags)? "It's the gun that made the '80's roar". 4 realz dawg n i'z gotz a platinum grill beeotch!

I actually did buy one - as a joke - a couple of years ago.

Of course, it didn't work at all, so I sold it.

Mine was way less than $300, I want to say $225 or so.

My Dad has one of those Tech-9's. It jams all the time and the cocking handle breaks easy too. If anything try to get the original open bolt KG-9. Of course they are hard to find and cost more.
