Does anyone own or know anyone who owns this kit for the sten mk. III.

semi auto sten conversion

It's supposed to convert the sten to a closed bolt semi-auto.  I have a mk. III parts kit and am very interested in buying the conversion.

If someone is making those "the Complete gun" put me down for one!

I built a semi-auto using a previous version of that kit.  There were a few problems that they may have fixed in the new version.  The springs weren't very good, especially the hammer spring (it tended to last about 20 rds).  The rear trunnion is flat, lacking the bevel found on a real sten.  And the extractor tended to be pressed too far against the bolt face.  I replaced the hammer spring with FAL recoil springs, beveled the trunnion to match the barrel, and reduced the extractor tension with some JB weld.

Oh, and the spring attached to the sear tended to slip off. hinking.gif

As I said, some of those issues may be resolved in the new kits.  There was a yahoo group devoted to building semi stens, I'm not sure if it's still around.

Once everything was tweaked, it runs reliably and is a fun range toy.

I love the looks it gets.

Thanks for the info i'm thinking this would make a great Christmas present.  What type of groupings do you get with yours and did you register yours as a SBR or weld on a barrel extension.

I've only shot it at 25 yds, and can't remember what size groups I got.  Usually I just plink away at steel plates - I only put it on paper to zero the sights. It might have been about 3 inches?  Don't expect precision.

I welded on a barrel extension and added a piece of tubing to simulate a suppressor.

Not the best pic:

I believe a couple companies made complete guns at one time, Valkyrie Arms being one of them. I'd like to have one too - not sure why they haven't taken off.
