What is the regulation on transporting a registered silencer over state boarders even to friendly states? If you own a registered silencer how do you transfer it if you move to a new state?

You might want to ask this in the silencer forum.  I do know no form is required to travel to friendly states.

Form 5320.20 is used for MG and SBR's.  No form required for a temporary move of a suppressor.  I'm not exactly sure what you do for a permanent move.  I'd guess you write a letter.  Someone will clear this up.

Just use a 5320 for a permanent move.  Or for a temporary one if you want.  ATF will accept them and approve them (if it's legal where you're going).

It's not required, but it is one more piece of official documentation.  I always keep all of my original 5320s even after they expire.  If ATF were to loose their paperwork (not that it would ever happen, right? ) I have not only my original paperwork, but also multiple copies of approved 5320s to show that ATF has acknowledged that what I have is legal and registered to me.  (sorry - thread drift)

I figure I have to send in paperwork for my other NFA stuff, so it's not a big deal to send in another one at the same time for the cans too.
