Let this be a lesson to remove your laser bore sighter before you fire your rifle.

I've got some more pictures, but I'm having trouble getting them to open.  My friend sent them to me, and I don't know if they've been posted before or what the whole story is.  Apparently somebody had a Site Lite bore sighter still in the barrel when they set off a round.  MJD

Shown/Posted here so many times there should probably be a better word than dupe to express it........

Agree.  Can we get a tagged thread for KB photos?

We could call it:

"Mah durn gun blowed-up! Her's a piture!"

No...a customer brought it in.

He was using Norinco ammo. Blew the bottom of the cartridge out and sent a piece of the disconnector back into his face. Left a mark. The white you see is some duct tape residue from the tape holding the other side together.

Wow!  Hopefully the mark was just a mark!  I know anything can KB given the right circumstances, but Sigs are so buff that you just don't think about them KB'ing too much.

Did that ever get resolved for the customer by Norinco or Sig?

I think I saw a glock kaboom on this site before.

No, I wasn't bumpfiring it underwater.

I guess the "mark" also did a little bloodletting.

It just happened a week or so ago. Have not heard back about any resolutions yet.

Let us know how that turns out - I'd be interested to hear what happens in that case.

Yeah, that was over a year ago. Sent it in to Bushmaster. Everyone from armorers to engineers looked at it and said everything was in spec. They couldn't figure out what happened so they sent me a whole new upper.

Good on Bushmaster!  I hope that never happens with my Colt, not so sure I'd have the same fortune.  So, it wasn't necessarily ammo related?

It's more than likely ammo-related. (case head separation, or something along those lines) But since it only cost me shipping to get the upper to Bushmaster, I decided to not go after the ammo company. It was Remington UMC, for future reference.

Ah, thanks for the info  Again, I'm impressed with Bushmaster from the stories I hear - and good call on your part.

ETA: That rifle KB is quite classic... Only the second time I have actually seen it, other than in old cartoons.

bore sighters are useless on bolt guns anyways.  just remove the damn bolt and look through the breach of the barrel and adjust scope until they both line up on target.  It will get you on paper then you can fine tune.  Takes about 5 mins.
