The stock is a Magpul CTR. The folding adapter is here: www.rbprecision.com/id51.htm Three things are needed from the above link. ARRB- AR receiver block $35.00 SIDE FOLDER MECHANISM $55.00 PIG NOSE AR adapter $19.00 |

There is a certain new AR receiver plug offered by Ace that allows the folding mechanism to be flush against the receiver. If you go without an AR style stock, you can bolt other stocks (Ace AKFX or Tromix) directly onto the folding mechanism for a really clean look. Here is a link that contains a kit with the new plug: http://riflestocks.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=75_78&products_id=332 |
I almost did that, but I really wanted my CTR. |

I went with the Samson FFS and Troy BUIS. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa136/OPKS/SIG556.jpg http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa136/OPKS/SIG5561.jpg |
![]() Ok, I posted it here before, but it was in a "Hate the 556" thread.... Above is a picture of my rifle. Mine started as a standard 556 w/ the new rail w/ buis and the Sig flip up front sight. I like the items the rifle is sporting. I used a similiar CAA grip and mag holder while in Iraq and they proved useful and functional. I decided to remove and replace the M-4 style stock with an A2 one. For my use, I have no need for a collapsable stock, plus it provides an added bonus. One complaint of the 556 is its front heavy carriage. When the A2 stock is filled with shot, it moves the balance point more towards the rear pistol grip (while making the rifle more heavy, but not intolerable). The scope isn't the most "tactical" either, but it is totally functional. It is a Millet DMS, which for the price can act as either a reddot type (1X) or an ACOG (4x). For the price it can't be beat. I've seen the reddot-magnifier setups, and they are almost as bulky as this scope. At least I have to worry about only removing one scope. The rings aren't nothing too terribly "tactical" either, just some Leupold QD's I had laying around. There are gripes, everyone has them, but in the grand scheme of things, they're minor. I wish the pivot pin was captive to the gun and not requiring to be unscrewed (like my SP1 Colt). Unlike my SP1 though, I don't like that I have to undo this screw-pin to remove the lower handgrip, which is necessary to remove the upper and what is below it, the gas tube. Overall, I like it. It has a big place in my shooting arsenal. Its great and fun, but its not my most fun...but then they all can't be like this...my original assault rifle! img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/warpusher/1918BAR.jpg Sorry...I love my 556, its high on the pecking order of my rifles. I know the 556 is HSLD, as are my ARs, but if I have to love a rifle and carry it to the gates of Hades...give me a BAR. Another complaint/opportunity for a willing company: Sig 556's have the ring below the block for the bayo lug/ yet no lug. If someone would make an adapter that would work with this block and an M-7/M-9/Marine Bayonet I would definately be interested! Thanks for your time! |
Is that a B&T rail on the 556? I've been wanting to get a rail for mine but have not read any good/bad comments on them. Could you please tell a little about it... how easy/hard was it to install? Does it heat up a lot? Thanks, DK ETA: Here's my contribution...

How did you attach the rear HK diopter? |
|
donkeykong-Yes, that is a B&T rail system. Standard rail on the 556 upper needed to be trimmed about 1/4" at the front. It works fine and is fairly solid, but not free floating. It is also expensive, $369.00 from DSArms. Heavier than the standard 556 handguard, but no hotter. JoshNC- Toiyabe66 had that custom made, it's a 1 piece rail and HK sight base. Very nice. an option I'm going to look into if Aurora doesn't get his rear sight in production soon. It was made by Sam @ www.samscustomgunworksusa.com |
It's the ASP sling. |

I would so buy one of those and then SBR it. Anyone know if they'll ever release that? |
Now that is what I'm talking about. Had a chance to buy one 3 years ago and passed. |
